GOP leaders vow to resurrect Obama trade deal
The Washington Times ^ | June 17, 2015 | Dave Boyer and Stephen Dinan

Posted on 06/17/2015 5:11:26 PM PDT by familyop

Republican leaders will try to resurrect the trade deal Democrats sank less than a week ago, planning a new vote Thursday and insisting they will corral enough votes to approve fast-track negotiating powers President Obama needs to complete a legacy-building Pacific Rim trade deal...“We are committed to ensuring both TPA and TAA get votes in the House and Senate and are sent to the president for signature,” House Speaker John A. Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a joint statement, pushing back against claims that the issue is dead after last week’s embarrassing failure...The White House has described last week’s failure as a “procedural snafu” and GOP leaders’ new plan to separate the TPA and TAA issues into separate votes could solve the problem...The president wants the fast-track powers so he can complete talks with 11 other countries on the Trans Pacific Partnership, which would tear down trade barriers among the nations.

Why would I ever vote for one of these jokers again?

These two clowns, as well as all those who join them in voting for these unConstitutional bills and all those how voted to retain these two clowns as Senate and House leaders, should lose everything (politically) that they’ve worked for. They, and their many supporters in the Congress, are duplicitous cowards.

Yep. The following quote from the article nearly says it all, except that they also want to pass the T-TIP and/or TiSA as fast as they can with simple majority votes and no amendments. They're in a big hurry.

"The president wants the fast-track powers so he can complete talks with 11 other countries on the Trans Pacific Partnership, which would tear down trade barriers among the nations."

What happened to those three that got punished by Bonehead for helping to defeat it last week? They were demoted, but can they vote again?

Boehner wants to see if they ‘learned their lesson’ probably.

Paging Donald Trump.

Donald Trump.

Your attention is required tomorrow.

It sure would be nice if Trump (and maybe others) would make this a huge talking point for America.

Speak up Trump.

On a positive note at least I don’t have to give a damn about the 2016 elections (or any for the foreseeable future) and can spend my time on something worth while.

"Why would I ever vote for one of these jokers again?"

...... You won't have to ..... this is the final suicidal act of Ted Cruz and these Republicans and possibly the Republican Party. They have chosen hill they wish to die on.

..... Heck ..... Why the rush? Why the heck can't they use a little common sense and wait a bit until this current administration is gone?

Boehner has been like this for years. No surprise with this a hole. Why people keep putting him back into the leadership position is beyond me.....

Has Ted Cruz (or any of the other Republican candidates) so much as uttered a peep in protest about the timing of the bill? As in, since we are so confident we will win, we can afford to wait.

I'm sure they DO NOT care about yours and my vote.

They've gotten to the feeding trough and they'll be paid for THEIR VOTE by the special interests running Wash politics.

"Special interests!" That's a key phrase. We already know about the importers and the like, but what about their voter base in the two political parties? Where is their strength in numbers? Let's see...

American Fedn of State, County & Municipal Employees $60,949,129 [Democrat] 81% [Republican] 1%”

National Review ^ | 02/03/2011 | Iain Murray
"...nearly 40 million Americans employed in some way by government."

They know where their big salaries come from. Governor Walker is the only candidate who really has a record of cutting their funding. If he were to do so in many states, that would decrease the time and money that they have for political action.
