The American dream is dead, but I will bring it back: Donald Trump announces for President

Donald Trump is running for president. The multi-billionaire announced his presidential plans today from his namesake tower in New York City. Trump, 69, was introduced by his daughter Ivanka as he formally declared his 2016 intentions, descending down an escalator with wife Melania to speak to the gathered crowd. In his remarks he attacked the Obama administration on everything from immigration and terrorism to Obamacare and the job market as he promised to bring back the American dream. He also released his financial information, revealing a net worth of $8.7billion.

'We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again. We can do that,' said Trump. I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created 'Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again.'

As for what he could do for the country, Trump said he would be the 'greatest jobs president God ever created.' He then added; 'The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before.'

As for Obamacare, Trump called the program a 'disaster.' 'ObamaCare must be repealed and replaced with something far superior and at far less cost,' he said in his remarks.

Trump also put much of the focus of his speech on the issue of immigration.

The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before. 'It is way past time to build a massive wall to secure our southern border - and nobody can build a bigger and better wall than Donald Trump,' said Trump.

He says clearly he is ‘evolving. He’s pragmatic too.

Why don’t you ask them before election day? I speak for all the voters that said it repeatedly. Because someone needs to make the point.

He says he is in favor of traditional marriage. If you’ve been hired as his spokesman, then show your credentials.

At that point, that’s what we have to go on. What he says.

Waiting to find out what is meant by ‘evolving on gay marriage, but believe in traditional marriage between one man and one woman.’

My guess is just a guess, but I think it probably means “have come to understand what their side is saying.”

If he really is serious about this (and that’s a big if), don’t underestimate him. Things are just crazy enough that he could emerge as another Perot.

Perot was a humble man who was genuinely concerned about the direction of the country, and on many things Perot was spot-on right.

The Donald is all about himself. It's all marketing and promotion designed to bring attention to him for whatever means he wants, to affect any outcome he wants.

Having said that, no question in my mind The Donald would be light years ahead and a better President than the POS sitting in the White House today.

we are not giving you an option here

A few things that just might surprise you:

1. I'm not in charge.

2. You can vote for whomever you wish. Or not vote at all. That's how the system is set up.

"I don't see how that alone disqualifies him."

That alone may not.

But, in addition to TPA (therefore furthering the move to TPP), he also supports the legalization of those here now illegally.

He is not a visible advocate for a wall. He does not support the enforcement of existing immigration law, exclusively, for those here now illegally.

And, he supported the Corker bill to turn the international treaty process into a "Fast Track" process for a nuclear deal with Iran.

He MAY be a conservative in your book, but not mine.

Hell, I even question his loyalty to the US above his wife's employer.

As abominable as Roe v. Wade is, it also tells us EXACTLY what needs to happen to put an end to abortion, it doesn't need to go back to the Supreme Court, there doesn't need to be an Amendment to the Constitution, there just needs to be one simple law that by it's very nature would be politically impossible repeal.

You make a very good point. Since "life" is one of the rights noted in the 14th Amendment and Congress is given specific authorization to enforce the 14th Amendment through appropriate legislation, a law declaring the personhood of the unborn would render Roe v Wade moot. Determining the persons and the methods of protection under the 14th Amendment is the duty and prerogative of Congress alone. If Congress declares that unborn children are subject to 14th Amendment protection, then the courts could not legitimately overturn that determination.

Well it was for me. You are a guy who flames people constantly.

You are a problem bellringer with no solutions to offer but threats to those who merely ask a question.

You could have filled in the blanks, but instead you throw strawman accusations as though you are pure as the driven snow. Prove it!

I didn’t say you were in charge.

I agree that we can and SHOULD vote for whoever we want. 100%. But I am telling you you will lose again unless it’s a conservative. Whether its Cruz or someone else. Romney showed that. We are not budging on this.

Yes, and a future Congress would find that declaring children to not be persons would be as impossible as making the same declaration about women or minorities.

I and every other conservative on FR gave you the solution. Whats the problem? Why do you rail against voting for a conservative?

Oh BTW, I have said the same thing for many years now. And I have weathered blistering levels of bitching doing it. So what proof would you like? Should I see if I can get AZ to send me my ballots and post them? Of course there is no name on them so that proof might be hard to come by.

Forget the “social issues” — they’re the issues the Democrats WANT us to think about, rather than immigration, defense, and the economy. Let’s get the border secure, kneecap ISIS and keep the country from sliding into bankruptcy. THEN we can worry about whether or not Caitlyn Jenner wants to marry a transracial goat.
