The American dream is dead, but I will bring it back: Donald Trump announces for President

Donald Trump is running for president. The multi-billionaire announced his presidential plans today from his namesake tower in New York City. Trump, 69, was introduced by his daughter Ivanka as he formally declared his 2016 intentions, descending down an escalator with wife Melania to speak to the gathered crowd. In his remarks he attacked the Obama administration on everything from immigration and terrorism to Obamacare and the job market as he promised to bring back the American dream. He also released his financial information, revealing a net worth of $8.7billion.

'We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again. We can do that,' said Trump. I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created 'Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again.'

As for what he could do for the country, Trump said he would be the 'greatest jobs president God ever created.' He then added; 'The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before.'

As for Obamacare, Trump called the program a 'disaster.' 'ObamaCare must be repealed and replaced with something far superior and at far less cost,' he said in his remarks.

Trump also put much of the focus of his speech on the issue of immigration.

The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before. 'It is way past time to build a massive wall to secure our southern border - and nobody can build a bigger and better wall than Donald Trump,' said Trump.

or since all of Hillary’s donations are from big banks and wall street, Trump is a Ross Perot candidate to split the republican vote and give the race to hitlary.

“Did you vote for Clinton, then? Cause if you vote for Trump, that’s who you’ll be voting for.”

I held my nose and voted for Bush. I was sorry he was Reagan’s VP. I am quite sure he was foisted off on Reagan in exchange for some sort of help. I’ve hated all the Bushes, but most especially Jeb. They are all one-worlders. And FWIW I’ve never said I’d vote tor Trump, but only that today he’s said a bunch of things that needed saying. He may not be the best messenger, but there was not much he said with which you could take issue. He’s a lot better in the process than about half those who have announced for the GOP nomination. You just have to wonder what’s in the water or more likely whose pulling the strings in the BG and for what purpose, because having twenty “nominees” is clearly not a normal situation. My money is on Jeb trying to whore up the nominating process and divide the conservatives. At least today, Trump threw Jeb under his bus.

You make it sound as though Trump is the only alternative to Bush in the GOP primary. He isn't.

Let me save us all a lot of arguing.

In 2011/12 Conservatives told you that Mitt Romney would not be elected. We told you that we would not elect a liberal. Then we proved it. There are more of us today than back then.

I will say it again on behalf of those conservatives. We will not ALLOW a liberal republican into the presidency with out votes and you on the moderate side cannot do it without us. Thus you have exactly two choices.

1: Vote with us for a conservative and win.

2: Vote for another liberal Republican and welcome President Clinton II.

Because we are NOT. I repeat NOT voting for lesser evil. It is entirely on you to help us salvage whats left of America. If Hillary wins, It’s on you. You have been told repeatedly. You have no excuse. Hardball. The decision is yours. No level of bleating changes that. No pictures of Yosemitie Sam on a Dragon change that.

Learn, live and love it. Because we aren’t giving you an option here.

I would take Trump any day over that huckster Cruz.

How is Cruz a "huckster?" I don't agree with Cruz on TPA, but unless you're a single issue voter, I don't see how that alone disqualifies him.

If anyone is a con-man in the GOP primaries, it's an opportunist like Trump who throws out some conservative-sounding red meat to his gullible fans while donating money to Democrats.

I was never a Mitt Romney supporter, but I am a pragmatist. When he was the only one left, I voted for him. As of this moment there are only ‘moderate’ conservatives in this race. And all of them are flopping about when they’re not flipping about.

You think we don’t understand the desire to have a good president. We do. But there’s only one Messiah.

And some political hack ain’t Him.

It’s a hypothetical.

If it came down to Trump or Bush, which would you pick?

Looks like Trump knows how to buy favor in Washington DC.

He spread it around a LOT until about October, 2010.

Then nothing but GOP.

And, if Dems were still in charge of Congress he would be buying them too.

After all, each and every one of them is for sale.

What I do mind is linking this abomination to every political candidate. This is no longer a political issue. Sadly the courts have “determined” to their everlasting shame, that abortion is some sort of “unmentioned right” in our Constitution.

This is EXACTLY what the Whigs were saying about slavery to abolitionist candidates in the 1850s.

Abortion isn’t going to go away by virtue of those we elect.

It certainly won't if we elect people who support it.

My point is that no individual presidential candidate is going to determine the end game on abortion, so to make that a litmus test for your vote simply rules out a lot of otherwise good candidates.

All any president needs to do is push ONE LAW through Congress acknowledging personhood of persons in the womb and abortion ends. As abominable as Roe v. Wade is, it also tells us EXACTLY what needs to happen to put an end to abortion, it doesn't need to go back to the Supreme Court, there doesn't need to be an Amendment to the Constitution, there just needs to be one simple law that by it's very nature would be politically impossible repeal.

Trump can turn America into the greatest financial power ever, win every war, seal the border, send every illegal back to their home country, lower unemployment and open up ANWAR and increase fracking and build the pipeline in a month.

He is ambivalent towards gay marriage and abortion which means he’s toast.

If you vote for Clinton then you vote for Clinton.

If you vote for Trump then you vote for Trump.

They are different people.

Don’t care about your lesser evil pragmatism. Read 205 until you accept the reality of it.

I love his shirts! Hannity wears Trump ties every day. They’re gorgeous! Great quality! They’re the only ties I buy as gifts for men.

Who is the real conservative in the race? At least one that isn’t willing to give Obama more power?

Actually, he is pro-life. He says so very clearly. I posted a link above.

He also is in favor of traditional marriage between one man and one woman. Any headline that begins “Trump says he has evolved on gay marriage....” is leaving off the part when you go to the link that says ‘but he is in favor of traditional marriage.’

What does ‘evolving on gay marriage mean?’

I don’t know yet. My guess is it means he’s coming to understand their argument better.

I didn’t use lesser evil pragmatism.

I used “whose name is on the freaking ballot” pragmatism?

"Because we aren’t giving you an option here."

And, so you're claiming to speak for...what...30 million voters?

Did you check with them first?

And, when you say "conservative" are you referring to Social conservative primarily?
