Ted Cruz wants to increase H-1B visas from 65,000 to 325,000 annually

WASHINGTON, DC: When it comes to increasing skilled workers on H-1B visas, one could say presidential candidate Ted Cruz is a bit of a black sheep amongst the GOP.The Republican presidential candidate wants to increase the H-1B visas by 500 percent from its 65,000 to 325,000.

Cruz, who announced his run for the Oval office this morning, had made the proposition in 2013 as an amendment to the Senate’s comprehensive immigration bill. While the Senate’s Judiciary Committee torpedoed Cruz’s amendment, they did approve an increase of 180,000 in the H-1B cap, but the House never acted on the legislation. It’s not clear if Cruz had only the base 65,000 H-1B visas for skilled workers from around the globe to emigrate to the US in mind, and he didn’t want to include the 20,000 other H-1B visas which are allocated especially for students who graduate from universities in the US.

We need more foreign workers to replace the lazy ones that went to college and were working before. /s

“More apologetics please”.

Okay, Ted Cruz has overextended himself to leagal immigrant voters by trying to place an ammendment in an immigration bill that would raise the bar on the quality of leagal immigrants that come in to this country.
It does appear to be a disconnect in his understanding of where HB1 people end up.
He put forth the 500% amendment knowing it would be
shot down.
This is political strategy.
I think he has underestimated the resulting outrage.
Our side does not understand strategy, it’s all knee jerk reactions and emotional meltdown.
So it goes back to the vetting process.
I think the whole secret PTT is his big problem now.
The Establishment Uniparty is going to keelhull him now.

We are already bringing in a million legal immigrants per year. If that isn’t sufficient, how many is enough? How do our politicians arrive at that number? How do they justify it with so many people out of work?

Guess who sends us the most legal immigrants---  MEXICO  ---at 450,000 per year last time I looked. And many of those legal Mexicans are not too educated and do not speak English. They get here via family reunification. They sure don't get here due to skills they have. So Mexico floods us with illegal immigrants and then hogs most of the yearly legal immigration quotas too. And then these maggots turn around and call us racist because we don't have our Mexican border 100% open

"So lets believe the n00bie troll posting from an indian source without further verification."

Or, you could believe me who's been around this site for a little while and who is in the IT staffing business.

The "after verifying there are no American's available for the job" is the lie about this program.

Many companies are advised to post all of their positions at pay levels 1/4 to 1/3 of current. After those postings run 2-4 weeks with not qualified applicants, you can go H-1b.

And lay off everyone.

Most do a few at a time...all new, all replacement positions.

Same process, post publicly for 2-4 weeks at 1/3 of market, then reap the profits.

Turns out he was YET AGAIN another poser. I tell you, I really Donald Trump runs, I am fed up with everybody. Even though Trump is an egotistical blowhard, at least he has gonads.

Ted Cruz is throwing it all away. Even the majority of American-born Hispanics want illegal aliens to be deported.

Would you be opposed to individuals in league with:

Wernher von Braun?
Kurt Gödel?
Albert Einstein?
Nikola Tesla?
Danyu Lin?

and hundreds of thousands of others?

http://www.psmag.com/nature-and-technology/immigrants-make-american-science-great-75166

What you are doing is confusing present ‘abuses’ of H1B with the benefits of H1B.

To get world class talent to America the H1B is used for work authorization. Hundreds of thousands of H1Bs are granted to eminent scientists and researchers to American universities and that keeps American science as tops in the world. H1B is a vital part of the scientific exchange and support infrastructure.

And we’re NOT talking H1Bs for IT Workers.

Think of H1B as a high performance vehicle.

When Obama drives the vehicle he runs people over, he runs into things, he crashes the vehicle and he runs away.

The vehicle is not the problem. The driver is.

Ted Cruz will drive the vehicle in the manner it was designed to be driven and he will keep America at the top by the way he drives.

C’Mon anti-Cruz trolls! Jump in here and show us what you got!

"Your name in the catalog will be used to ping you when Ted captures the critical momentum which he is now in the processing of achieving. And I predict you will not respond as I doubt you have the class to admit you were wrong."

Dude. That's crazy talk.

The next nationwide poll for the GOP nomination will not be kind to Ted Cruz.

Increasing the quota from 65K to 325K would ruin me and my family. As an American why do I have to worry about competing with third worlders right here in America when earning a decent living is hard enough already is beyond me. Cruz is messing with fire.

You’re assuming that things will continue as they do now. How do you know that a President Cruz wouldn’t demand compliance and actually see that its enforced?

Seems to me that you see it all as completely hopeless and just want someone to tell you what you want to hear and it doesn’t matter as long as the lie is correct.

IT = HIGH LEVEL MONKEY WORK NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

This is exactly the same scenario Reagan was faced with in the American Auto Industry that was riddled with lazy, greedy, fat auto union goons. They got their asses handed to them and the result was a more competitive and globally dominant US auto industry.

C’mon trolls! You can do better!

Ted is not going to allow H1B to be used to replace IT workers with cheap labor. That’s Obama you’re talking about.

Ted is going to ensure that America’s high ranking and elite laboratories and universities are populated with the best minds in the world including American born.

You’re barking up the wrong tree.

But nothing prevents any corporation from laying the likes of you off and shipping the work offshore. No one can stop that. When your job security is at stake, ADAPT! That’s what truly smart people do.

I’m not anti-Crus and I get your point.

But you do understand that everyone of the people on your list were not only at the top of their career fields but were virtueally pioneers in them? They weren’t replacing anyone. They were brought aboard to bring the native American talent to their level of expertise.

The abuse in the H1B program is the other way around: advertising for workers with skills that are supposedly in shortage here, then using American workers to _teach them_ to do the job they were supposedly hired and and able to do the moment they set foot in the country.

Ok let me extrapolate. Since you are a Cruz supporter you must share some common traits with that candidate, right?

You are trying to persuade people in the IT industry that IT work is monkey work and IT people are lazy just like the auto workers of 30+ years ago. Wow, some persuasive powers you poses, is Mr. Cruz also this good at the art of persuasion?
