Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who led the GOP effort to whip votes for the trade bills, warned that defeating the trade package would make the U.S. look unreliable on the international stage.

It is, in fact, Ryan who makes Republicans look unreliable.

Trash NAFTA and any trade deal we have with China. That would restore millions of good jobs lost in our country.

Finally, a slap in the fact of the parasitic foreign exchange student who is president!

Maybe Cruz was crazy like a fox after all. Deliver a poison pill to the President, and that supposedly a liberal thang.

Antiexceptionalism.

America that once knew it was a 500 lb. gorilla, now acting like a 5 lb. monkey desperate for attention.

The incredible shrinking country, can’t even wait to do things the right way.

"defeating the trade package would make the U.S. look unreliable on the international stage"

Wrong. 0bama makes the U.S. look unreliable on the international stage. See: Egypt, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, etc. etc. etc.

>>Trash NAFTA and any trade deal we have with China.<<

NAFTA was in part sold on the promise that it would lift impoverished Mexicans standard of living.

Big fat lie. Corps used the super cheap labor until it became too expensive, then moved many operations to China.

The impoverished are still impoverished. Ever been to Messy-co? A third world country just a stones throw away.

Instead of using our military thousands of miles away, how bout sending about 10K troops down along our border. Shut down the cartels, human smuggling.

What in the world will they do for the Sunday morning programs? Normally Chrissy Mathews, et. al., would come down hard on the Republican opposition and promise revenge for insulting the King!

But this time too many Dems joined in. What to do, what to do?

It’ll be interesting to see how they fall all over themselves to explain this one.

My Congressman, Dave Brat voted against. He is a huge improvement over the weasel Eric Cantor, who would have been whipping votes for it.

More districts need to realize they have term limits in their hands.

Primary the weasels out.

I would like to offer my speculation about the motivations which prompted Obama, the Democrats and the Republicans in the fiasco which led them to bungle passage of the fast-track bill.

Many posters seem to think that Obama was somehow victorious, that he conspired with Nancy Pelosi to get this result etc. Conspiracy theories of this sort are utter rubbish. I believe that Obama is not motivated as we will be told by the mainstream media by a need to burnish his legacy, although that no doubt would be gratifying to him, rather he is motivated by an extreme leftist ideology, an ideology which drives him to accomplish all of the goals of the far left which include destroying American sovereignty and substituting a one world socialist utopian government. The trade bill Obama is presently negotiating is as perfect a vehicle as Obamacare and environmental issues to accomplish that purpose.

So the trade agreement that was to be pushed through on fast-track contains hidden traps and snares for the unwary, the gullible and, in the case of Republicans, the greedy which will serve to parallel Obama's domestic rule and ruin strategy. Just as he has used executive orders to dodge the Constitution and the powers allocated under it to the other branches, just as he uses the bureaucracy to rule by decree, Obama wants a trade agreement to shove aside the Constitution and ultimately to destroy American sovereignty.

The Democrats who oppose this bill did not do so because they have been rebuffed by Obama and are miffed, rather they did this because they are shearing away from Obama and toward the siren of Elizabeth Warren and her populist movement. The House Democrats are thinking about the next election, not about Obama's legacy. They are very much in thrall with the populist aspects of Elizabeth Warren's message and they know this bill is repugnant to that message.

The Republicans are proving once again to be the stupid party. They should understand the power this message has with Rank-And-File Democrats in the House and they ought to question whether that power extends to the general electorate. I think it does. Donald Trump thinks it does but the rest of the Republican candidates, Ted Cruz and Scott Walker regrettably among them, apparently do not. Besides, the Republicans might latch on to an idea simply because it is right.

This is a pivotal issue for the election and the fact that this trade bill crashed on the issue should be instructive to Republicans. The issue is the reform of government policies which are hollowing out America, which have cost us our first place as the world's leading economy, and which now have extended to the extent that they are actually seriously undermining our national and therefore our personal safety and that of our children. To reform misguided government policies is a purely conservative undertaking and we ought not to be misled by characterizations that such reforms are not conservative because they echo Democrat talking points. They do not.

The Democrats will not use our labels, they will tell us they are seeking to cure income inequality but the Republicans must tell the world that inequality is caused by Democrat policies. These trade agreements, no less than unchecked rogue immigration and runaway regulations, are to blame for our present malaise afflicting the middle-class.

Wake up Republicans, seize the issue, win the election, and recover the erstwhile Reagan Democrats for a generation.
