Ted Cruz Channels Paul Ryan: 'A Lot of Misinformation' on Obamatrade That 'You Can Get on the [net]'
Breitbart ^ | 6/11/15 | Matthew Boyle

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)96%, a 2016 Republican presidential candidate, defended his decision to vote for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that would fast-track the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) and Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA)—among other deals—during a Thursday interview with the Hugh Hewitt radio program.

Hewitt started his line of questioning with coming out of a commercial. “Let’s take that opportunity, then, to go and talk about free trade—TPA, TPP, Export-Import Bank. Sen. Cruz, for clarity’s sake, can you quickly give us an overview on where you are on those three issues, as there’s quite a lot of confusion among conservative voters as to where different people are and why on each of those three issues.”

“Sure,” Cruz responded. “There is a lot of confusion and, unfortunately, a lot of misinformation you can get on the Internet that people are confused, so let’s explain what each of those three are.”

Cruz, by saying that, was essentially making the exact same claim—blaming the Internet for what he argues is “misinformation”—as House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)60%. Ryan made the claim on Fox News earlier on Thursday in response to Breitbart News reporting highlighted by the massively influential Drudge Report. Ryan, with whom Cruz pushed Obamatrade in a Wall Street Journal op-ed in late April—one that’s been used by Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)40% to try to rally support for Obamatrade—has been essentially discredited by various false statements he’s made throughout this process.

That Cruz would use the same talking points as him is interesting and probably disappointing to many conservatives. That Boehner is using Cruz to push Obamatrade is probably even more disappointing to most conservatives... ...

[ 51 votes to pass, 60 votes to deny, and that with no amendments allowed. Yep, really above board. ]

That is almost like saying that you are Guilty until proven innocent by the court...

completely ass backwards and usurpation of the treaty power of the constitution...

I don’t think it is so much of a usurpation of the treaty power by a President as it is an abrogation by Congress (the Senate)in its duty to ‘advise and consent’.

Having a base foundation law (TPA) that binds them in how they are to consider subsequent pacts made by the President goes against normal advise and consent. Further, the potential that a President can implement terms that are contrary to Bill of Rights protections and to require a super majority to defeat them is utterly reprehensible. It is like structured treason to me.

It’s almost like they got the NASA report that a giant asteroid is coming at us and will wipe out all life on earth in like 18 months and congress has just thrown it hands up in the air and is just sayin “F**** IT!!!”

Ronaldus would have voted for Romney just like Palin did. If conservatives want to avoid lesser evil choices in general elections, we need to get our act together and win primaries. The solution is not to stay home and passively enable leftist wrecking balls like Obama.

Then he would have disregarded his own statements about people like Romney and his conservatism.

Did you learn this on a Ouji board or from Miss Cleo?

The few sentences on TPP begin at 56:00

Ted Cruz says he wants a free trade agreement and the time is now because when Democrats are in power it will not happen.

He says the current secrecy is "stupid" and creates suspicion.

He says he's read it but not studied it as it's 6-700 pages.

He says it will have to be public for sixty days before final approval.

The secret nature caused me to call Steve King today to caution against a loss of sovereignty and a threat to the Constitution, particularly from a secret agreement pushed by this president who is an enemy of the Constitution.

I trust the judgment of Steve King--and of Ted Cruz.

I was for Goldwater as a YAF member. William F. Buckley, as Rush clarifies, said nominate the most conservative viable candidate--viable, not electable, as that cannot be known.

Ronald Reagan was happy to accept an 80% favorable policy.

Yes, he advocated bold colors conservatism just like Palin. And like Palin he would have voted for Romney. Faced with the choice of Obama or Romney, he wouldn’t have chosen Obama. Because he dealt with things by being realistic, not by stamping his feet. He would have known that the country would be worse off under Obama, so he wouldn’t have helped him win on election day. He was smarter and better than that.

You are welcome to whatever fantasy you like. The facts show that we were right, the GOP took your crew’s romneybot support and ran left. The result was Mitch and Jonbon’s stellar conservatism.

Fact.

Reagan said unambiguously that the party would not be turned over to leftists/RINOS. You turned it over to leftist RINOS

Fact.

You after he loses and you blame conservatives for not backing a liberal. Again. Just as with Romney.

IMO, for 2016, it’s either Cruz or nobody. At the moment,I’m leaning toward nobody.

SIGH.

The fact is that we need to start winning primaries. That’s the answer. Stamping feet and acting as Obama or Hillary enablers in general elections is not the answer.

Ha! Bullcrap. I voted for Romney, because I figured that the alternative was worse. And whaddya know? I was correct.

But if not voting for Romney makes you feel "pure," whatever . . . just don't give me some BS that you accomplished anything worthwhile.
