Cruz super PAC claim: More than $37 million raised
CNN ^

Posted on 06/03/2015 11:26:18 AM PDT by VinL

Three of the top ten conservative donors in the last presidential election are giving to the super PACs supporting Ted Cruz that now claim to have raised more than $37 million to support his bid, a shocking haul and donor list for such a populist Republican candidate amid a crowded 2016 field.

Florida businessman John W. Childs...Texans owner Bob McNair have committed to support Cruz, according to a leader of the super PAC. Together, the pair committed about $7.5 million to conservative outside groups in 2012...

Major Republican donor Robert Mercer, whose family foundation's accountant serves as the treasurer for one of the the Texas senator's super PACs, is also expected to have donated substantially to the groups. Together, this trifecta of donors could give lift to a fundraising operation once predicted to lag significantly behind its competitors.

Cruz appeared Tuesday night at a kickoff fundraiser for the constellation of four groups -- all of which are titled with variations of "Keep the Promise." About 45 donors heard Cruz at the Knickerbocker Club in New York City, showing that support is wider than any individual donor, the Cruz source said.

The Cruz super PACs wowed some top Republicans by saying within two weeks after Cruz announced his presidential bid that it had raised $31 million. That haul...was surprising for a tea party firebrand who has relished in fighting the political class.

The super PACs' success and donors cannot be independently verified until they file campaign finance reports later this summer.

Though Childs, McNair and Mercer are some of the most premier names in the Republican donor world, only one of those top 2012 donors, the super PAC leader said, ranks among the top three donors to the Cruz super PACs. (snip)

Big Whoop.

Hillary raised ten times that much from a single donor.

Sorry, don’t understand the relevance of your comment.

What does Clinton have to do with the fact that “ [t]hree of the top ten conservative donors in the last presidential election are giving to [Cruz]?”

Good news for Cruz, and for all of us.

I was being ironic.

Doesn’t matter Martin O’Malley is going to get the D.N.C. nod anyway, the Dems are going to drop Hillary and go hog wild for O’Malley.

Sanders is just a distraction so it won’t be so obvious.

Yeah, O'Malley can run on the huge Maryland success story.

I donated again yesterday, not much but I've been a steady eddy.

I think Cruz would be the best President but I'm not going with the Cruz or nobody crowd here on FR because we have many very good candidates (not perfect, but very good).

I don't want to get into a pissing contest about why Cruz is the only one and if he doesn't get it, they will stay home and piss in their own shoe.

I am going against conventional wisdom and say there will eventually be a tipping point where as more candidates jump on the merry go round that it will favor Ted Cruz.

People will start to see it as a joke and see all the other candidates irreverent and pick “ the one “ who is most viable early.

As if ? That matters to the Democrats ?

To them it’s a résumé enhancer.

The media, the D.N.C. , the Democrats is a “ Cult “ of personalities.

Hillary, whether they want to accept it or not is a old hag beyachty women, she is not going to appeal to the yoots vote.

They , the Democrats are once again going to look for someone young with Charisma.

Hillary has as much appeal and charisma as a week old stinky sweaty sock.

I put her more in the category of equipment used to administer an enema, but the "stinky sweaty sock" thing works too.

She basically sealed her political presidential campaign fate with the bad optics and telling that old woman to get back at the end of the line.

You know very well the Republicans are going to get plenty of milage with that one in TV political ads.

It will play up very well that Hillary is mean and not well liked, a phony.
