The Irish vote was the ultimate rainbow-sash Pentecost.
Kyrie Eleison.
Sadly, if the Church started beheading people, it would get better responses. Humanity is at fault, not the Church.
That's the really frightening part: that an entire country can be manipulated by political hit squads.
I hope the FR Catholics won't follow those instructions. The Bible is quite clear on the subject.
Can anybody reference where Roman Catholic Church leaders in Ireland told the people about Romans 1:25-27 or 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 as examples of Bible passages which teach the evil of same-sex sexual relationships?
Or did Church leaders rely on vague teachings of men to argue against same-sex marriage?
At least one FReeper has indicated that priests molesting children in Ireland has undoubtedly weakened the credibility of the Church on such issues.
I’m stunned. Parolin is a not particularly distinguished retread, brought back from beyond after he made life bad for BXVI.
But he may be opposing his boss (Francis) on this issue, and I’m really amazed. I read a story years ago - I don’t recall by whom or any other details - that said that sometimes the people you expect to be martyrs capitulate immediately....and sometimes the people you expect to be out there offering their pinch of incense on the first call are the ones who will go to the block.
So one never knows, and maybe we shouldn’t judge in advance.
The majority of New Testament is read every 3 years in Mass.
Week 28 (Year 1) Rom 1, 2, 3, 4Week 23 (Year 2) 1 Cor 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
True dat.
Humanity?
Nope, just Ireland.
They don’t effect me — Idaho or Maine can supply my potatoes
With all due respect 9thLife, were parishoners paying attention when the same-sex relevant passages were read? I suspect that youd get a disturbing percentage of shrugged shoulders if you asked parishioners and parochial school students in Ireland what Romans 1:25-27 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 indicate about same-sex marriage.
From the title I figured it would be Cardinal Burke, but Parolin is better because more official.
Your favorite accusation against Catholics has been demolished. Just meditate upon that for a while.
Get yourself to a stationary store and buy a pencil so you can connect some dots there, Chucky.
Sinn Fein and all the other Communist Irish nationalists are happy. I hope the Ancient Order of Hibernians is as well.
.
I am becoming more convinced that the Catholic Church failed to emphasize key Bible passages which condemn things like same-sex marriage.
Connect dots?
The argument is empirical— saving children from being abused under the cover of “marriage”
With all do respect to the messenger in the article’s title and its message — it is flawed.
Ergo the result in Ireland.
