I don’t have children in BSA, but if I did, they’d no longer be there. The organization has outlived its usefulness. Apparently.
If I has a BSA in my household, he would resign today. What about church sponsored troops? Will they be permitted to avoid the gay mafia?
One would think that the experiences of Penn State and the Catholic church would demonstrate that this is an exceptionally bad idea.

Gates is just a high level bureaucrat. Shame on him, and in particular, shame on those who brought him in. This tells me that the Boy Scouts have gone from bad to worse. I don’t see much hope for them in their present situation.
He doesn’t care what is right or wrong - his only concern is short-term politics and media optics. Its what his career in Washington DC has been about.
I don’t know about that. But apparently Robert Gates think so.
This is the end of the Boy Scouts, what a shame. They making their way into all aspect of life especially where there are young boys. I used to buy Girl Scouts but no more when I heard about their connection with Plan Parenthood and allowing transgender boys to join. Everything innocent has now been usurp by the liberals.
Turned out well for the Catholic Church who took in numbers of gays who joined the priesthood to avoid Vietnam War service.

OCT 1994 – While running for the U.S. Senate in MA, Republican Mitt Romney debated incumbent Sen. Ted Kennedy (D). Romney said that homosexuals “should be allowed” to serve as Boy Scout leaders. At the time he served on the national (volunteer) executive board of directors (NEB) of the BSA. His church, the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints, adopted the BSA program as its official male youth program in 1913. LDS Church doctrine condemned homosexual activity as sinful. His 3 younger sons earned the Eagle Scout rank.
DEC 2000 – The 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympic Committee, under Mitt Romney’s leadership, banned local Boy Scouts from helping at the Olympics games in FEB 2002. Romney’s spokesman, Caroline Shaw, justified the decision based upon Olympic rules which barred youth under the age of 18. This “rule” evidently was not in effect 4 years earlier at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA, where scouts from the Atlanta Area Council were heavily involved in Olympic activities. Adult scouters could help at the Salt Lake Games but not while wearing their BSA uniforms. Romney declined to speak with all BSA representatives.

The problem with gay leaders is that I am sure membership will decline, with those leaving left without a place to go if they would reject the diversity of homosexuality or other social constructs that may be determined as discriminatory by the government. This is the true face of tyranny.
Well, I feel the same way about public schools. They are a 19th century paradigm that outlived its usefulness at the beginning of the 21st century.
There are a lot of “vestigal” activities in a rapidly changing culture.

When will they change the uniforms to a rainbow theme?
When will they add new merit badges for buggery and fisting?
We’ve been fighting a rear guard action for too long. We need to take the offensive and job one is ending the government school control over our children’s minds. The RE bailout saved them.
Break their unions and cut their pensions. School vouchers will be the final nail. Only then can we regain our nation. It’s imperative. The average FReeper cannot believe how anti-American and racist the average teacher is.
I posted a couple of days ago that the Boy Scouts will no longer be allowed to have water gun fights. Reason they give in their words: “It’s not nice to point a gun at someone.” I said in my post that “nice” doesn’t sound like manly man word.
They should change their name to the Butt Scouts.
I would question the motives of anyone - openly gay or not - that wanted to be a scout leader if they didn’t even have a child of their own in the program.
