I’m a little taken aback. $600 is not expensive? What is the threshold for a handgun to be considered `expensive’?

Not talking Desert Eagles here, just service grade pistols.

I better hang on to my $250 Norinco’s.

Check the CPI between 1990 and today. You’ll find that $600 today is roughly the equivalent of $250 then.

A decent 1911 runs about $700. Ditto for a Beretta M9 pattern. The S&W Governor (45LC/410 shotgun) in stainless runs around $670. Below that price point you get polymer frames. Above that point you get higher quality components with better tolerances.
