Maddow opened her show with heart-rending footage of the Aurora trial. She highlighted the testimony of Brenton Lowak, whose friend Jessica Ghawi -- a 24-year-old aspiring sports reporter -- died in the shooting.

It’s a shame they lost their child but they should have known better than to go after the people that manufacture bullets. They knew the risks and the knew the lawsuit was frivolous.
The law has a frivolous suit provision which makes lawyers jointly financially responsible.
That’s a VERY good law. I suspect the article is being misleading in implying the law applies specifically to gun makers. I bet it’s just general, or at least applies to all product liability lawsuits.
Besides, why is she sympathizing with people whose case was so ridiculous they couldn’t convince 12 sheeple off the street to raid some company’s deep pockets? Don’t know the particulars of the case, but it must have been REALLY weak if they couldn’t win in the People’s Republik of Kolorado.
Ooh, I like that! Let them see how their own tactics feel. make the attorney and the plaintiff jointly responsible for the full amount, and see how they like it when the total exposure from all the parties adds up to way more than the liability and the “victim” gets picked based on ability to pay rather than degree of responsibility. Sweet!
