Brown was shot dead on August 9 by white police officer Darren Wilson and sparked Black Lives Matter movement
A permanent plaque has been unveiled to honor Michael Brown, the black 18-year-old who was shot dead by a police officer in Ferguson last August.
The steel and gold plate will be drilled into the road on Canfield Drive where Brown was shot, replacing a makeshift memorial of flowers and toys, which had become a safety hazard.
It features an engraving of the teenager in his graduation mortar board, with a message that his family 'would like the memory of Michael Brown to be a happy one.'

This is idiotic. Just how long do they think it will last with car driving over it exposed to the weather 24-7? No doubt people will burn rubber on it, and worse. Or will a security guard watch it constantly? Spy camera trained on the spot? Will the morons block traffic periodically to polish Gentle Giants plaque?
Hopefully a snowplow will remove it neatly.

Oh, great, now in addition to the fad of having roadside shrines of silk flowers, mylar balloons and assorted flotsam and jetsam littering America’s highways in a trashy form of forcing everyone to memorialize everyone else’s dead relatives... now everyone will be demanding bronze plaques and taxpayer funded contractors to install them. Some highways will be so congested with tiles they will literally look as if they were paved with gold.
