Marco Rubio: I Still Believe In Comprehensive Immigration Reform, But "The Votes Aren't There"
RCP ^ | 5/17/15 | Ian Schwartz

Posted on 05/17/2015 12:46:07 PM PDT by jimbo123

Presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio told FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace he still believe in comprehensive immigration reform, but the votes just aren't there. Rubio this is due to the 2014 border crisis and "unilateral actions the president took in his executive orders."

Rubio acknowledged former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Virginia) "partially lost" the Republican primary in 2014 because of his support for comprehensive immigration reform.

"The problem is the votes aren't there in the House," Rubio said Sunday. "And as you know, for example, the Majority Leader of the House partially lost his election on the perception that he was in favor of immigration reform and that impacted the way others voted as well."

Rubio also surprisingly said there is support for comprehensive immigration reform, but Congressmen and women "are going to vote based on what they're hearing from their constituents and others."

Marco Rubio should be deported along with Jeb and Columba Bush, too.

Exactly.

Come nomination time, for any and all GOP supporters of amnesty for illegal aliens...

...the votes will just not be there.

Ha!

“Rubio also surprisingly said there is support for comprehensive immigration reform, but Congressmen and women “are going to vote based on what they’re hearing from their constituents and others.””

Amazing. You mean he actually thinks that representatives will, after all, represent?

Apparently, he won’t be representing his constituents, since he is for something that will destroy this country.

If he had even said that the people don’t want it, at least I could say he recognizes that they are supposed to govern according to the will of the people. But he is just another politician, say and do anything to get elected then do what they want to do.

Isn’t that the way they SHOULD vote?

Actually not. That's why we have a representative republic instead of a democracy. But they shouldn't lie about their positions to get elected. And if they do they should not be re-elected. Fool me once...

Not once you become a foggy bottom elite. Your biggest challenge is to pad your overseas accounts, play nice with the other crooks to learn all the scams and screw over the voters who put you there by kissing the liberal media’ass.

Rubio-Same turncoat liar who was more interested with Schumers Scamnesty legislation then the will of his supporters.

FUMR

Amen. They are on a gravy train, and they look at things differently than average Americans. They are in a club, just like the Skull and Bones, where their mission is not to take care of American interests, or do right by Americans, but to use America for self advancement and grabbing wealth through increasing our debt. They promote policies like immigration and importing the world for benefit of self advancement of the elitists, and cheap labor and politics. They have no right to change the face of America and our legacy culture.

They only pretend it is about serving us. They look for ways to manipulate and divide us to their advantage - divide and conquer. Those that are not cynical of the system are either clueless or embedded in the system. The only thing that leadership of the 2 Parties want is to keep only 2 Parties.

What does comprehensive immigration reform mean? What is wrong with our current immigration laws other that the fact that it seems to be illegal to enforce them?

“but Congressmen and women “are going to vote based on what they’re hearing from their constituents and others.””

It is those “others” that concern me. Money in politics supersedes the interests of American citizen constituents, and it must be removed from the system before we become subjects.

How many live Town Hall meetings does your Congressman or Senators hold for their constituents, versus the time spent meeting with lobbyists and other non-constituents? We need to quit fighting about the miniscule and start focusing like a laser on getting honest responsive government back, and quit allowing the media to deflect and define the issues.

“Comprehensive immigration reform” would start with enforcing the immigration law already on the books, in a much more even-handed manner. What we have now is only very SELECTIVE enforcement, with with broad exceptions apparently being allowed on little more than an expression of executive discretion.

Where the failure of enforcement comes in very sternly is in allowing “refugees” to stream in, with little regard to whatever actual persecution they may face in their home regions. This throws the door wide open to a vast fifth column of “refugees” to enter from either Islamist regimes, mixed in with persons who are actually fleeing in fear of of their lives, or revolutionaries in the process of exporting their own kind of repression and criminal enterprise to the territory once known as “the United States of America”.

Worse, other minorities who really ARE being persecuted and slaughtered in their native regions are turned away at our borders for specious reasons, or “compassionate” permission to import even more revolutionaries is extended as a blanket policy.

Yeah, we need reform. Just back us up to 1990 and proceed much more cautiously with the incremental changes.

Does anybody understand the concept of “reset”? And not in the sense that Herself, Madame Benghazi, the Cold & Joyless, has managed to pervert the meaning of the term.
