Good find. I did a search but the AP pic was the only one I could come up with.
Some boys threw rocks at a train thinking it was great fun.
The engineer was shown being blinded by the breaking glass, covering his eyes.
The next scene was the apologetic boy visiting the now bandaged over one eye engineer in the hospital.
The lesson?
Bad boys, DON'T throw rocks at trains!
Wish I knew what that film was called.
It never occurred to me to throw a rock at a train.
But it still made me feel terrible.
How about someone on board the train brain beaned the engineer while he was looking forward blowing the train whistle, rendering him unconscious, set the throttle to the 8th notch, left the gay guy for dead, made his way to the rear of the train and is among the survivors. The engineer may have just had time after coming to to react by trying to slow the train down.
Other possibilities do indeed exist. Alright you all, playing “smear the queer” may be a ton of fun, but realistically you are assuming something you cannot possibly know for fact.
Obviously, Zimmerman shot at the train from across the country.
Or Sarah Palin. Or something like that.
Your pic shows front-end damage other than the damage to the windows, which suggests the engine derailed and hit something like a utility pole or a sign.
BTW, more than front end damage. Damage starts at the front right side, all they way up to the roof area and extends all the way down the entire lower right side of the engine.
The entire right side front end area of the train has been compromised or warped by heavy impact. I think this crash/impact could have easily cracked the windshield.
There's no attempt to "smear the gay guy." The various excuse scenarios being floated are preposterous. The six-sigma explanation is simple: a negligent engineer killed eight people and seriously injured hundreds of others.
The only people involved in ridiculous "explanations" are the usual suspects, like The New York Times.

Lets see, so far we have projectiles coming through the windshield, now we have terrorist on board sneaking up KO's the driver, jamming the throttle down then sneaking back to their seat.
Hmmm...If you're going to hijack a train on a suicide mission, why run back to your seat?
Maybe Trayvon thought this engineer seemed queer and gaybashed him unconscious.
Reflections on the glass look like the damage came from inside the locomotive's cabin.
Install a cupola on the engine a la the gunners pods on WWII bombers. Equip with night vision and telescopic sights and a fixed mount "sniper rifle".
Pick off one or two rock throwers, and the action will stop (one way or another).
A classmate was parked by the train which had blocked the highway into town. He got out of his pickup and climbed up to get a closer look. One of the trucks had an unlocked door so he got in to check it out.
A moment later, the train began to move. In a few moments, he was a mile from the crossing and the train was picking up speed.
Since jumping off was out of the question, he settled back and road the train (inside a new Ford pickup) all the way to Kansas City, Missouri.
Arriving in KCMO, he got out of the pickup and walked over to a small office building which turned out to be part of the RR’s control room.
Meanwhile, back in Iowa, his own pickup had been discovered idling by the RR tracks with no one inside. The sheriff was called. His wife suggested he'd been kidnapped.
Trying to explain his arrive to the RR inspector, he was allowed a phone call to his wife. She drove down to KC that afternoon and picked up the railroad riding husband.
The sheriff related the story to the local paper. Folks are still laughing in the little Iowa town.
The Gaystopo is pulling out all the stops fer sure. I bet rocks etc. striking trains is at least a daily occurrence in Phillilalala. But now the media got everyone convinced the engineer is a victim. Good try but I ain’t buyin the hot pant load they are selling.
No evidence the engineer has so much as a scratch. No bump on the head in evidence. Overlooked, no doubt. If he had an injury we would have seen it in Technicolor. Not like Zimmerman who DID have an injury the. MSLSD tried to hide.

Trains do not accelerate from 50 mph to 106 mph in 4.6 seconds all by themselves. Possibly another “I’m gay,and I’m gonna take everyone else with me” suicide attempt?
