Republicans brace for glorious victory over Obamacare

Nancy Pelosi is now predicting that Republicans will “rue the day” that the Supreme Court guts Obamacare subsidies for millions in three dozen states. “They’re going to then go out and say we’re going to take subsidies away from people who have health care? No, I don’t think so,” says Pelosi. “It would be really bad news for them.”

Meanwhile, if anything, Republicans may be moving away from their previously-stated vow to participate in providing a contingency fix to temporarily keep those millions covered. The Hill reports that GOP Rep. Tom Price, the chairman of the House budget committee and a leading conservative, has now come out against any plan to temporarily keep those subsidies going.

Price’s approach to the issue neatly foreshadows the chaos that could erupt if the Court does what Republicans say they want and sides with the challengers in King v. Burwell.

In coming out against a temporary subsidies fix, Price appears to be somewhat at odds with other Republicans, such as Rep. Paul Ryan and Senators like Ron Johnson, Orrin Hatch, and John Barrasso, who want to offer some kind of transitional plan for those who would lose subsidies, putting off the fallout until after the election and buying time for Republicans to produce a comprehensive Obamacare alternative.

Instead, Price wants to proceed straight to repealing Obamacare and replacing it with his new proposal. The simplified version of Price’s reforms is that it would do away with the individual mandate and the Medicaid expansion and the required minimum standards for health plans and the protections for people with preexisting conditions. It would subsidize people’s insurance, but it would replace the current subsidy system, which is based on income, with one based on age...

When the time comes, Republicans will put forth a unified plan for the time being.

So Cruz not only has to come up with an interim support plan for those cut off while the free market is reinstated, he needs a catchy name for it to make the cud-chewers pause.

Something like “FreedomCare” with the tagline of “You Can Read It Before You Vote On It.”

If the government could stop paying subsidies and at the same time reduce taxes by the amount on money it saved in abolishing the ocare subsidy program,there would be a long run permanent benefit to everyone because the taxation of everyone's income would be smaller, and everyone would be enabled to buy more of the goods he himself desired.

Some of the full weight of Obamacare will come down that year.

That's already happening as we speak. I've now heard from 4 different married friends and their insurance has increased in cost.. their deductible has doubled and they paid a FINE to the IRS of $2800 because EVEN THOUGH their insurance is, and was, just fine for their needs.. it DID NOT meet ALL of the REQUIRED Obamacare standards so they either had to switch to Obamacare or PAY a FINE to hold on to what they had at the time they filed their income tax. True!

Thanks to hussein's CommieCare, my premiums soared from $125 to $550 per month. Even worse, as a stockholder in an health insurance company, dividends have been slashed. And on top of that, communist health "care" is meddling in the market. Recall that CommieCare forced Blue Cross Blue Shield to adhere to a so-called "cost-control mandate", restricting companies to spend as they see fit.

Exterminate CommieCare and Medicare! Get the central government's grubby hands out of the free market. Restore America's healthcare to the unrivaled best on the planet as it was under President Reagan.

Ron Johnson beat 3-term incumbent Russ Feingold (D) on the wings of the Tea Party. Feingold as announced retake his seat in 2016.

I was going to say the exact same thing, but you already said it, so all I can say is MEGA DITTOS!

The #1 first thing they need to do is bring back catastrophic coverage, remove the mandate and make it possible to buy insurance across state lines, at that point if they want to reintroduce some kind of subsidy or tax credit I’d be ok with that.

I wouldn’t mind subsidizing people to have catastrophic coverage, if they got cancer or hit by a bus, but as for this “comprehensive” nonsense, that’s ridiculous.

Revising and extending my remarks: Yes, allow policies over state lines and catastrophic policies instead of policies that cover each and every scratch, routine illness and office call and the price of healthcare will fall to the point that we can all afford to pay for office calls out of our own pockets. Free clinics and charitable hospitals can be established for the truly destitute.

In hussein’s destructive economy, I've found that direct negotiating and bartering works very well. For example, rather than having costly dental insurance (which the regime has driven sky-high), I perform services for my dentist. Being skilled in IT, I assist with his computer network and perform routine maintenance on his server and workstations. This is my way of giving the middle finger to the illegal _resident and his cronies. My cost of dental care has been zero since 2010.

All it takes is a little creativity and good ol' American know-how to defeat the evil schemes of the regime.

CMS is now the control. CMS sets the standard for Medicare and Medicaid. Insurance companies are forced to peg their business to CMS mandates. CMS sends massive amounts of money to develop software, to do all kinds of special projects. The software developers must all comply with CMS.

Doctors, Hospitals and all providers now see CMS as the customer. Their customer is king. Providers do what CMS tells them is billable. No longer do providers see the patient as the customer. No longer is the care customer oriented. It is now CMS billable oriented.
