Some congressmen are so paranoid of sex scandals they refuse to be alone with female staffers
The Daily Mail ^ | 16 May 2015 | SOPHIE JANE EVANS

Some senators and representatives working on Capitol Hill refuse to be alone with their female staffers in case 'negative assumptions' are made about the nature of their relationships, an explosive new report reveals.

The male congressmen go so far as to bar female staffers from attending high-level meetings and evening and weekend events that would entail one-on-one contact, according to the National Journal survey.

They also reportedly refuse to drive alone with women or even sit down with them in their office for fear that others will misinterpret their relationship as inappropriate in an era of political sex scandals.

In doing so, the men are 'making it harder' for women to do their jobs and progress as congressional staffers.

I would do the same thing unless I'm a Democrat.

If more men did this there would be less infidelity.

It’s microagression!!!

You know. Unless it becomes something else.

Then it’s a whole new cause.

I wouldn't hire females or any minority that could potentially pull that minority crap on me. Call me racist, sexist, but I call it practical in the current pc mind crap thought here in the US.

Not much difference than being in the military then. With all of the hoopla about sexual assault in the military and the automatic presumption of guilt upon being accused of sexual assault, I know that I was very careful while in the military (and, even now, in the civil service) to make sure taht there were witnesses around whenever the potential existed.

I’m surprised this is even remarkable. Everyone in business knows you can’t be along in your office with a woman. That’s the environment that feminism has brought about.

That is the right thing to do.

A person in a responsible position must not only avoid improper conduct. A person must avoid even the appearance of improper conduct.

I do some lay ministry work, and I will not be alone with a woman other than my wife while serving in those functions.

At work, though, it may happen.

Yeah, it’s actually probably a wise precaution these days.

I know a gal that works for a law firm. She told me she saw three different women set up their bosses. Made sure they got into “relationships” with them (while keeping their jobs, of course).

Then, at various times, all three filed sexual harassment suits.

Seeing as how the entire media establishment exists to destroy them, I would say this is prudent.

I know of pastors, who will not close the doors of their office if they are alone with a woman in there.

Billy Graham had men with him all the time. They'd get in an elevator first or enter a hotel room first, all to prevent any possible "gotcha" moments. All to prevent the slightest APPEARANCE of impropriety, let alone the actual thing.

Any employee could make a false allegation—male, female, black, white. Best not to hire at all. Be the DIY Congresscritter, sponsored by Lowes.

Had many direct reports, subordinates and equal ranks that were female, during my life in corporate America. over 20 years ago, when sexual harassment was the next big thing.

As a male, I followed the Billy Graham rule—any female in my office, and the door was never fully closed. My secretary was also instructed to check through the door every once in awhile.

I had four direct reports one rank below gunning for my job.

Worked for me.

If someone could come up with a good “frame” on McConnell, I might be amenable to this.

All men need to have this stance considering how women have no issues making life difficult for a guy she doesn’t like by making up a story of sexual harassment.
