What a shame: if only the economy had been better, the rioters would have had more name-brand stores to burn.
Seriously, this had to be one of the strangest statements to come out of the Baltimore riots. On this evening's Ed Show, Baltimore Pastor Jamal Bryant complained that because of economic "disenfranchisement," the rioters "could only find one anchor store in that neighborhood" to destroy.

gee, they’ve had 50 years of the Great Society and 6 years of Obama
maybe there’s a reason there aren’t any more department stores in their violent Krapistan-on-the-Patapsco?
Jamal, huh?
Most people couldn’t pronounce, no less spell, the names of my grandfathers and great grandfathers from Italy. My middle name is Aneallo, after father’s father. First name is very American.
You see, that’s how assimilation is done. Last names are what they are. First names can be used for assimilation.
The Mall may be a “protected” operation. That is to say, “family owned.”
The Onion?
What you talkin’ bought, Willis??
May Starb will build for those who feel the need to burn stuff.
I think he meant that if there had been more opportunity and more businesses the rioting could have been avoided. Why more anchor stores I’m not sure, wasn’t that supposedly targeted because it was a symbol of white society ? Just like 1968, almost all of the property damaged then was owned by whites, not blacks.

Obviously, not the only thing burning in Baltimore:
Bryant acknowledges four daughters Topaz, Grace, Angel, Adore [3]
Bryant has daughter Topaz(1998) with an Atlanta woman named Crystal Madison.
He was married to Hampton University graduate Gizelle Bryant in 2002. They have daughters Grace(11/4/4[4]) and twins Angel/Adore(April 2006 [5]). In summer 2007 rumors exploded in the church that Jamal had gotten a 17 year old church member pregnant. Church leaders asked him to step down while they initiated an investigation and awaited paternity test results. Jamal only responded that it is a private matter.Months after the investigation, Jamal Bryant remains the pastor of Empowerment Temple. After Michelle Wedderburn filed for a child support increase, he finally acknowledged that he had a
daughter in 2001 named Naomi with her(Michelle).[6] In January 2008 Gizelle filed for divorce, but later cancelled the filing on January 24. In 2010 Gizelle attended Empowerment Temple and was called wife and first lady by Jamal,[7] causing many to wonder if they had divorced. In 2012 Jamal Bryant was interviewed by Roland Martin concerning his affair and divorce where Bryant confirmed that they were divorced, good friends and were co-parenting their children well. He stated in the interview that had he not divorced her he knows he would have been unfaithful again.[8]
More like a full time comic.
After watching the video — NewsBusters is grossly misrepresenting the nature of this person’s complaint.
Apparently they walked right past the Home Depot to loot the liquor store. Even that guy knew to hide the money inside the work gloves.
Pray America is waking
Just wow! I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen it!
Wah Boo Hoo. snivel, A$$hole.

BY tomorrow, he will deny ever having said it, and then it will be reported that he “walked back his statement”, then it will have been “taken out of context”, and then “Oh, look, DTWS is on!”
"It's like a jungle sometimes
It makes me wonder
How I keep from goin' under"
Ben, obviously the pastor isn’t complaining that only one chain store was burned. But his argument is absurd: he says that rioters could only find only chain store and wishes there were more businesses and opportunities. He missed the irony that the kind of violence during the riots discourages national stores from locating there.
Now they just have the “40s & 9s”
To state the obvious, Jamal, of the Empowerment Temple Missions, is no economic genius.
“Some things you just cant make up”

You’ve got that right-—this guy gave me my best chuckle of the day.
