today, it is so visibly a disaster zone as to defy description (excepting for one block of redevelopment downtown and a couple of ‘trendy yuppified’ districts in the hills above town...whose residents don't DARE go down into the main part of the city!)
just checked the Oakland phone book, there's not a single recognizable department store listed in the entire city
(they used to have at least two good department stores downtown and a third out in a shopping center that now features a giant-sized welfare dispening office instead)
the town has been under solid D management for decades
what have the D politicians, and the D policies, given Oakland.....? (ANSWER: a terrible lack of opportunity for the residents..... a super-high crime rate.... with lots of murders and major drug problems........a miserable state of dependency, despondency, and despair...)

Businesses should stay out of the jungle. Law enforcement should too. Let the thugs kill each other.

I guess we need to pass a law saying that WalMart, Target, Safeway, RiteAid, Sears and Nieman-Marcus need to go to Baltimore, so the next riot they’ll have more national chains to loot and burn. I’ll ask Bernie Sanders to introduce ‘The Baltimore Chain Store Looters Protection Act’. I believe Obama supporters will go for Bernie instead of Hillary.
