Franklin Graham: 'Draw Muhammad' event went too far (what happened to FG?)
WND ^ | Cheryl Chumley

Franklin Graham, one of the world’s best-known Christian evangelists and the head of the nonprofit Samaritan’s Purse, said in a Wednesday morning Fox & Friends interview the “folks in Garland were wrong” to hold their “Draw Muhammad” event. ”

As a Christian, I don’t like it when people mock my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” he said. “What this event was doing in Texas was mocking Islam. I disagree with [them].” Graham said today’s society is lacking in civility and the “folks in Garland were wrong” to further that tone. “I think we need to show respect and civility,” he said.

“We need to respect one another … and those that believe differently [from my faith], I’m not going to mock them.”

Oh, that’s very good. The exact distinction we needed.

Sounds like Graham wants to/is willing go the route of Pastor Niemeier(?) in Germany in the days of Hitler coming to power. I have respect for Graham as person of God but I will not leave my earthly existence to him in the face of Mohammed’s hoards. I have been in a physical WWII and had a brother killed on Okinawa which gave me some insight as to despots intents on this earth.

Also notice that the apostles who defied the pagans were there to promote the gospel first and foremost.

Trying to compare the Geller event to this does not work well. This was, at most, about some secular rights in a country that is governed by fallen and often even unbelieving men.

I don’t really like the way that logic is leading me here, I would love to see jihad get yeehawed. But maybe that is my flesh talking, not the Spirit. Wars are a dime a dozen. Not the Christ.

This sounds a lot like a misrepresentation. I googled and found only your comment.

You have the only decent response on this entire posting. Really gives me something to think about.
Bless you.

It’s arguable that the mocking part was out of the divine intent for Elijah’s demonstration, as it looks to have thrown him off spiritual balance. Jezebel’s catty little threat, which was both entirely predictable and entirely ignorable, made him think he was worthless... that is a sign of fighting the wrong spiritual battle.

The greatest enslavement and slaughter of Christians and Jews in human history, their places of worship and communities, is occurring right now throughout the world.
It is not mocking to call these murderers to account for their actions. When they demand no one draw a picture of their prophet free men will draw the picture, not to mock but to show contempt for those who would kill Christ.
We must refuse to be cowed and bow before terrorists. When they make demands on us we must stand against those demands.
Rev. Graham has not thought this through. Standing against evil is the most important act of a Christian.

I admired his dad but that did not help as to my going to the Philippines in WWII or my brother being killed on Okinawa.

Part of this could be a chastisement of the lukewarmness of Christendom today. I don’t mean lack of cattiness. I mean lack of willingness to take the spiritual offensive by evangelizing. If Christ did not come to save souls Christ came in vain.

Standing against evil needs to be done in the right way (”our battle is not against flesh and blood.”) Even the most evil people are hostages of Satan. Successfully separate the people from the Satanic power and you have robbed the evil from the situation.

The grace of God fights Satanic power. That sounds like a weird weapon to our flesh. Why isn’t the symbol of Christianity a hammer, to clobber, or a sword, to behead, rather than the cross, to make a sacrifice to save? But it isn’t.

The first thing I recognized as a born again Christian was the duty to spread the word.

This is tough.

Tough for someone that has virtually no network of “friends” or sufficient interactions with people on a regular basis.

Tough for someone that tends to be a very private and reserved. Someone that is shy or not very social.

Confidence of belief is not the issue, projection of belief is.

Faith?

Trust?

Leap of faith?

Maybe.

It seems to me that those of us that are thoughtful, really thoughtful are not equipped with the social tools in today’s culture to spread the word as we know.

Fear?

Uncertainty?

Awkward?

Trust.

Faith.

Major disappointment.

Not everyone has to vow to spend the rest of his life in Outer Pagan Slobbovia to show the gospel (what Jesus did that everyone who needs it may accept) in some manner to someone that it may matter to. I’ve attempted to do that on various social media in various ways and probably will keep it up until I no longer can.

I think Christendom got a little too easily cowed by the “Christmas haters” etc.

I think he realized that Christendom itself was in no great shakes with respect to sexual purity. If he admonished Bubba he might have to admonish half his traditional supporters too. (Which might not have been a bad thing to do.)
