Stop judging poor moms. Bad policies hurt their kids — not bad parenting. [liberal hypocrisy]
Washington Post ^ | May 8, 2015 | Joanne Samuel Goldblum

About 30 percent of low-income parents can’t afford to change their children’s diapers frequently enough, according to a Yale University study. My organization, National Diaper Bank Network, helps distribute diapers to those families in need.

It’s not just diapers. The tendency to brand low-income moms as “bad” extends to how they feed their children (no candy!) and entertain them (no swimming!). But these perspectives make me wonder: What makes a mother bad?

I’m a middle-class mom who has absentmindedly sent my kids to school without lunch and missed deadlines for permission slips. And, like low-income parents who struggle to pay for diapers, there are aspects of motherhood that I wasn’t prepared for, either. I had a child with a chronic illness, and we had her on ineffective treatment for a long time. Most would agree that making sure your child gets proper medical care is fundamental to being a good parent, but it took years before we got her the care she needed.

And yet, no one has ever accused me of being a bad mother. Money covered my many shortcomings. Those late permission slips could be faxed in because I had a landline and a fax machine, and because I was fortunate enough to send my kids to an adequately staffed school that had the time to help out busy parents. And because we could afford it, my husband and I went to specialist after specialist until we found the best care for our daughter. In many small ways every day, middle-class resources eased the pressures of raising three kids.

Contrast that with the moms who rely on diaper banks to keep their babies clean, dry and healthy.

The writer of this article is a liberal woman who made the responsible choice of getting married. However, instead of encouraging other women to get married, she defends women who have babies out of wedlock. What a hypocrite.

Work hard, do the best you can, stop blaming others and teach your kid the same.
That's good parenting regardless of your income level.

And be charitable, privately, not with OPM (I gather that is what she does with her diaper charity).

And above all love God, and defy the devil. The ancient promise holds good: He who shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. It’s about going to heaven, true, but it is also about inviting heaven to be with us here on earth.

Well, that’s just what liberals do. Almost all the liberals I know lead pretty conservatives lives. But they encourage chaotic lives for the poor and underprivileged. What’s that about?!

Doubtless still better than some. But she should stop wallowing in the low-love, low-hope, low-expectation (and no-God) pig sty of modern liberalism.

Struggle-to get their hair and nails did, while double-dipping on the taxpaying schmucks who pay them to feed their litters via EBT, then pay again for their kids to eat three meals at school. All the while their keeds are 40 lbs overweight, and they themselves are 75 lbs overweight. Go pizz up a tree, leeches.

the village has no morals

the village has reverted to the semi wild status of precivilization

there is no poverty in such a society because there is no wealth

Maybe your heart might soften if you saw the misery they have embraced. They are using up things that are considered cheap here. And it does not satisfy, it will not satisfy.

Is it mere luck that has brought you your success? No crediting everything, even the “ability to work hard,” to God?

The devil has liberals going because they are looking for the right heaven, but in the wrong place. The self bootstraps formula that has carried a lot of conservatives won’t work there. They must know God. Do you curse them? You are sending Satan their way when you do.

The major problem in the “inner city,” i.e , the Black Community, is not bad mothers, it is absent fathers. While it is possible for single women to raise good citizens in a ghetto environment, the deck is stacked heavily against them.

The qualities a caring dad brings to the table are nearly always ignored by the left, whose adherents believe that an uncle (Sam) can provide everything a father can. As a father of 3 very productive children, each of whom has 3 children of their own, it is obvious to me that the liberal, one-parent model is deeply flawed.

A dad is a provider, a disciplinarian, a role model for sons, a Little League coach, a fishing buddy, a counsellor, a homework helper, a chauffeur, a shoulder to cry on when your heart is broken, a dinner companion, someone who teaches you how to ride a bike and ice skate and drive a car. And he demonstrates what loyalty is, keeping a family together and paving the way for his children to do the same when their turn comes.

Sure, it’s possible for a single mom to do many of these things, especially if she has help from her own mother or sister, and sometimes, due to death or divorce, it becomes imperative. But when an entire culture revolves around the welfare check replacing the aforementioned role of the father, it is a recipe for disaster, as evidenced in Baltimore last week, in Ferguson last year, and in Newark, Harlem, Detroit, Oakland and every other democrat-run ghetto in this nation ever since LBJ’s ironically-named Great Society.

When they and their keeds are so “miserable” that they have time to roam around looking for people upon whom to perpetrate the knockout “game”, no, my heart isn’t very soft. I feel sorry for their victims.

Two weeks of disposable diapers could be replaced by enough cloth diapers and a pail if only it weren't so archaic.....

What local, state, or federal policy forced these (mostly) unmarried women into bed with an unaccountable male who disappeared as soon as the pregnancy test came back positive?
