Presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) will keynote the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC) in May, where hell appear alongside a number of his potential opponents.
"Sen. Cruz's recent announcement for president has created quite a buzz among Republican voters. We're excited he'll be joining us for the SRLC, as I know primary voters will want to hear what he has to say, SRLC Chairman Dave Weston said in a statement.
With the future of Obamacare increasingly in doubt, many have looked to Cruz as the point of the spear in Republican efforts to defeat the president's signature policy."
Cruz kicked off presidential primary season with an announcement earlier this month. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) followed suit last week and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) told donors on Monday that he will run.
Neither Rand nor Rubio are scheduled to appear at the gathering of Republicans and conservative activists, but invitations have been extended to both candidates.
Cruz will share the SRLC spotlight with eight other prospective GOP presidential candidates: Gov. Scott Walker (Wis.), former Gov. Jeb Bush (Fla.), former Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.), Gov. Bobby Jindal (La.), Dr. Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina and Donald Trump.
A number of those potential candidates are expected to have declared their intentions by the late May event in Oklahoma.

She’s looking at Cruz as if he were an Hispanic she had just dropped.
Ted Cruz will knock it out of the park.
Bobby Jindal and Dr. Ben Carson may have something interesting to say.
The rest in the lineup are a complete waste of time.
~~Cruz, OR LOSE~~ Ted Cruz the only true Conservative in this race.
In related news, the MSM has reported that Ted Cruz will be speaking before a “designated hate group”, the SRLC.
What they won’t tell you is that a REAL “hate group”,
the SPLC, was the designator.
I thing I like the most about hearing Cruz is his ability to communicate the need for restoration of our Free Republic, he doesn’t need to stand and speak from notes; he knows what he believes and is not afraid he will say something wrong, freedom, liberty and love of righteousness is in his DNA.
Nice! Hopefully this confab will be carried on C-SPAN.
I keep hearing that Ted Cruz is not liked among his fellow Senators. Is this true, and if so, why? If it is true, will it hurt his chances to be the party’s choice in Nov. 2016?
No. Actually, it might HELP him.
What's hurting Senator Cruz the most right now is his single-digit polling. He needs to break out of fifth place soon or the money is going to start drying up.
BINGO -
Hitlery - As well as the other pubbie candidates, I’m thinking, are quaking in their boots at the thought of having to debate CRUZ.
RIGHT trumps all else....combined with intelligence and knowledge and love of country - and Master at debating - ultimate weapon
Sure glad he’s on our side!
You really wonder?
To them, he's an upstart that doesn't doesn't kow tow to their seniority - nor play games or bargain with the devil. He's a major threat to the status quo in Foggy Bottom.
He's A true statesman, in the RR. Founding Fathers model.
Thank you all for your in-put. He seems to be doing so well with both campaign contributions and the opinions of the public, but not in the Senate. People, except Senators, seem to like what they hear, and he doesn’t back up. I had read that if a candidate doesn’t “kowtow” to the powers that be, he/she won’t make the cut (Michelle Bachmann, for example). If he isn’t #1 on the ticket in 2016, I hope he’s #2. With as many strong Republicans to chose from, I had thought it would be a shame to waste any of them, but I’m beginning to think that it will take two strong candidates to clean up Obama’s mess. The rest can go in Cruz’s cabinet.
