The title of this post is the headline of the "Daily Express" newspaper in the UK today, its owner supports the United Kingdom Independence Party.
Under the headline:
"Farage and UKIP boosted by 'very strong' late surge"
"Labour and SNP would be absolutely disastrous for us all"
The article starts:
"The UK Independence Party is poised to 'significantly and perhaps dramatically' beat poll predictions thanks to a late surge in patriotism, it said last night.
Amid warnings of the risks from Labour and the SNP, millions go to vote today in what looks like being the tightest election for generations.
And UKIP forcasts that its supporters will keep Britain great by providing a 'very strong' share of the ballot....."
There are high hopes for UKIP today to beat the polling predictions which put it around 15 percent of the popular vote and claim in some cases that UKIP will only win one seat in the 650 seat House of Commons. It currently has two.
During the campaign it appeared the media was trying to find ways to talk UKIP down or divide it against itself.
One common example involved media interviewers suggesting that UKIP spokespeople other than Mr. Farage would make good leaders for the party and these people would be asked if they were interested in the job. Here were very blatant attempts to stir up a contest other than the one UKIP was fighting for-getting votes in today's election.
The polls close at 5pm Eastern (10pm British Summer Time). The exit polls will come out then. Look for coverage on C-SPAN from one of the British networks then, also BBC World News Channel will likely be on with in depth coverage as well. There should be plenty of internet coverage from BBC, Daily Mail etc. etc.
The votes in Northern Ireland will be counted tomorrow with results mid-day BST, morning our time. The outcome in those 19 seats could figure prominently in how a coalition government involving several parties may emerge with the two major parties expected to fall 35 or more seats short of majority.
In the last general election of 2010, UKIP didn't win any seats and got 3.1 percent of the popular vote. Mr. Farage was its leader then and he ended up being injured in a plane crash that day.
This election day should be a brighter one for Nigel Farage and the United Kingdom Independence Party. And as Mr. Farage has a habit of doing lets hoist a pint to a great day for UKIP.
Go UKIP!
Try Isabellas Islay - the worlds most expensive non- alcoholic drink. It’s a bit pricey at $740,000 per bottle, as the cask is encrusted with 8,500 diamonds and 300 rubies. But who cares about money when you’re counting diamonds and rubies...
Give us a report on the taste, and send the empty bottle to sergeantdave’s Charitable Trust for Old Gerbils.
go NIgel!
Let me check my credit card balance here.......
The Conservative party is telling voters that a vote for UKIP is a vote for Labor.
Well if the Conservative party stopped acting like the Labor party then the UKIP would not be taking votes from them.
Stop the massive immigration, stop all the welfare immigrants get, stop all the welfare the layabouts get and stop reducing the military.
Take note GOP.
I pray to God Nigel Farage wins that MP seat.
I may have to lift a bottle of O’douls, even that will give me a slight buzz, I am an extreme lightwieght when it comes to booze.
” I pray to God Nigel Farage wins that MP seat. “
If not win at least give the other two socialist parties a damn good thrashing they both deserve and be agonizing thorn in both their sides for another 5 years.
