It wasn't a fair fight.
On one side, you had two men in body armor, toting assault rifles and showing every willingness to open fire now and count their victims later. On the other, you had a security officer -- a traffic officer by day -- with a pistol.
Somehow, the officer won.
Authorities have not released the name of the overmatched Garland, Texas, police officer who stopped a pair of gunmen Sunday night. But they have described what he did, actions that could be characterized as equal parts skillful, heroic and miraculous.
The event started, by all accounts, without a hitch.
Until, that is, about 6:50 p.m., when a dark-colored vehicle pulled into the entrance the Garland officer and school district officer were blocking.
"When that car pulled up and stopped, those officers began to exit that vehicle and two men exited the dark-colored sedan," Harn said. "Both of them had assault rifles, came around the back of the car and started shooting at the police car."
Gunfire reverberated around the complex, from the two gunmen, and the armed officer. A short time later, four members of a nearby SWAT team came in firing their high-powered rifles. But by the time they did, the Garland traffic officer was the only one standing.
The two attackers were already down on the ground by their car, having been shot by the traffic officer.
Within 15 seconds, the chaotic eruption was basically over.

My mom who passed 20 years ago at the age of 80 was an ace shot on her college rifle team. When WWII broke out there was an error in the spelling of her name and she was “encouraged” to join up. They weren’t as interested when they discovered she was married and eight months pregnant.
Body armor didn’t help them much - the officer blew their brains out.

I hope the rest of the nations gun owners and Police agencies are trained as well.

Hell so many people including cops wear a vest. But now they will say no regular person has any reason to have a vest. They will take this angle and make 2a folks eaual to these jihadis and take away another purely defensive protdction i think all lw abiding people should have.

I couldn’t help but notice in the article by CNN the attacking Muslim’s were “firing assault weapons”, and the responding SWAT team came on scene “firing high powered rifles”.

Many states have an equivalent law. I don't know about Texas.
Importantly, it was the unarmed security guard who was shot in the leg. The traffic cop was armed, and obviously a steady and good shot with a pistol. He also had the sense to do head shots instead of the typical center of mass shots.
The bad guys, on the other hand, probably had very little experience with their rifles (likely AKMs), assuming that they would bust into a “target rich” auditorium where they could shoot as wildly as they wanted and still wound and kill people, like Holmes in Colorado.
This is why every gun owner should practice a lot.
I suspect the traffic cop saw one of the pigs shoot his AKM, so carefully aimed and put a round through the back of the shooters head, with his Glock .45 If he had GAP rounds in his pistol, they would have about the same effect as .45 ACP (which might be why they are having trouble getting a positive ID on him). He then adjusted fire to the other pig on the other side of the car, who was likely having a WTF? moment, and it was “say good night, Gracie”, with him as well.

We were trying to pass legislation making it ‘impossible’ for states that are NOT gun friendly from obtaining the listings of CCP holders... Maryland tends to run vehicles they stop then ‘shake’ them hard if the registered owner has a CCP.
The last I heard the SOB vetoed that bill...
That said, why didn’t ‘WE’ run these bills through when we had a R Gov and Majority in ‘both houses’?

I hope this is not correct. While I imagine SWAT would be tense after hearing gunshots from multiple weapons, I would be disappointed if they were actually firing when they had no targets to shoot.
