When the Tea Party began in 2009, even those of us at the heart of the movement couldnt have predicted how it would permanently alter Americas political landscape. Just six years later, its undeniably at the heart of American politics in spite of countless attacks from the political establishment and from the national media. Because of the Tea Partys strength and influence, candidates who call themselves conservative must prove their bona fides to successfully court any grassroots support at all.
Sen. Ted Cruz is a great example. Clearly a Tea Party favorite, Cruz has stood strong in the Senate for the movements values. He took the heat when others wouldnt when it came to defunding ObamaCare and holding the congressional GOP leadership accountable for repeatedly caving to President Obama.
Cruz is often criticized for his Tea Party boldness but thats precisely what makes him attractive. The movement views him as a smart, principled, constitutionally grounded conservative.
CRUZS CHALLENGE: Using his well-honed firebrand conservatism to get broad support across the movement and bring other constituencies in the party along with him.
Gov. Mike Huckabee, who announced his candidacy on Tuesday, has a strong constituency in the evangelical segment of the Tea Party movement. A stalwart and unbending social conservative, those who look for that as the primary hallmark in a candidate will not doubt be attracted to him. And he's built is loyal following through his years with a Fox News weekend show. But Sen. Cruz took a straight shot at that base when he announced his candidacy at Liberty University last month....

Or a mildly retarded individual or the most recent immigrant or half the prisoners at the county jail.
True, that.
Precisely! The GOP/RNC plaid jacket establishment crew would rather throw the election to Bolsheviks than help an actual Constitutional conservative.
trying to enlighten those who are still being fooled
“My worry is that the establishment wing of the GOP would rather lose than see FedGov shrink toward its legitimate constitutional size.”
Don’t worry about it. The uniparty would sooner kill their children then give up even one scintilla of power or prestige.
And they really do love their children.
If being better than the current occupant is the benchmark, then all trees and some rocks would qualify.

“Why can’t they ever spell it correctly? TEA Party”
I’m pretty sure the “Taxed Enough Already” came well after the start of the Tea Party movement.
“Why a Tea Party president is a pipe dream; The NWO ruling elite controls this country thus voting is a sham meant to keep the people at bay as to think they still have a voice in who goes to the WH.”
With $18T in federal debt, only $3T in tax revenue, and interest on the debt costing $2.5T-we are a house of cards.
If Cruz isn’t president of the current US, he can lead the next CSA (conservative states of America) after the inevitable collapse.
Just one problem with your numbers.
In FY2014, the interest on the national debt was $.43T -- about one-sixth of your figure.
My number was total interest paid, not annual.
My point was - although nit made clearly - when rates rise, we won’t have the money to make the payment. Much less pay down the debt. Not that anyone in DC even thinks that important.
TEA Party
Because tea (as in the East India Company's product) is a three-letter word beginning with 't'.
The Tea Party was founded by Rick Santelli on 26 Feb 2009, 37 days into Zero's Regime.

"We're having a Chicago Tea Party in July. All you capitalists who want to show up at Lake Michigan, I'm going to start organizing ..."
Finding someone who would make a better president than we currently have is as easy as finding something better for breakfast than a bowl of pea gravel.
I apologize for citing the obvious but in order to fix this country there will need to be citizen take over of DC and it will be interesting, to say the least, to see when and how that happens, if it happens.

It’s not obvious to everyone, unfortunately. Some think if we just keep voting for any ‘R’, it will magically work - even though the last election (2014) proved otherwise.
I’m hoping it happens soon, while there are enough of us around that remember freedom, the Constitution, and the founding fathers. If it waits until we are gone, the next generation won’t even know what they are missing out on.
Amen!
