Georgia Mom Calls Police On 10-Year-Old Son For Being Disrespectful
Opposing Views ^ | 5/2/15 | Matiss Batarags

Chiquita Hill, 33, posted photos of her 10-year-old son being "arrested" to Facebook after she called the police because he was being disrespectful. Hill posted the photos with captions describing how she did not want her son to become a thug.

"First let me say that I love my children," Hill wrote on Facebook Tuesday. "They are what keeps me going. But ... I’ll be damned if they are disrespectful to me and anyone else."

Her son had been acting up at school and disrespecting his teacher, leading the teacher to show up at Hill's house for a parent-teacher conference.

Hill's post continued: "That was it for me, the last straw. My children will not be thugs and wannabes. … What I did next was scared [him] straight, Columbus Ga style...”

Hill asked her son why he was misbehaving in school, and he replied, "Because I wanted to and I don’t care.”

The single mother of three then called the police and told them her son was being disrespectful. They obliged her request and pulled up to the house to scare the young boy.

"They put him in handcuffs and were loud, and he didn’t have time to react," Hill told the Ledger-Enquirer Thursday. "They put him in the car and let him sit and think about it. At that time, they called my daughter out and talked to her. They explained to her why her brother was in trouble and sent her back inside.

"Then they went back to the car, and one of the officers got in and flashed the lights and started driving just a few inches."

"It hurt me," Hill said. "I didn’t want to do it, but I had to get across to him."

When the boy was released from the vehicle, he ran to his mother and gave her “the biggest hug.” He then went to console his sister, who was very upset.

Hill said that the message clearly got through to her son, as he has not misbehaved since the incident.

Hill's Facebook post gained a lot of attention, with over 3,500 likes and 1,000 shares. While many people liked the lesson she taught her son, others were apprehensive about such an extreme measure.

Hill defended her stance, saying, “What I say to people that say I’m emotionally hurting my child or giving him a fear of law enforcement: He respects law and knows they’re there to help people, but he also knows they’re also there to show him the consequences of his action."

Hill's harsh lesson brought to mind another strict mother who is not afraid to scold her children. Toya Graham of Baltimore was recently caught on camera slapping her son repeatedly after catching him taking part in the Baltimore riots.

I told her I understood but that she needed to understand I would do that again and if the company fired me I'd be going to the press with the story.

Good for you. :-)

the dog gets shot, flash bangs go off, Social Services then shows up and takes the kids.

As I was reading the story, I was wondering when it would get to the part where those things happened. What a pleasant surprise that they didn't happen.

Let's do follow-ups every month for a year.

The police are not a father for single mothers.

There is no substitute, get married to a decent man and respect him as head of your household, i.e., accept that he has the authority and responsibility over your children because they are of his household.

Exodus 20:12 "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee."

Proverbs 13:24 "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."

Proverbs 22:15 "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him."

Proverbs 23:13-14 "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell."

Proverbs 29:15 "The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame."

That’s probably why the son was disrespectful to the mother. Because she’s named after a banana.

I’m hoping this becomes a trend. I think most peope are sick and tired of he ghetto / thug culture which has everything to do with all the riots the past few years. Fathers on the scene would definitely curtail it as long as they’re not thugs themselves.

“Back in the old days there were fathers at home who scared their sons straight.”

Yes, this is true for back in the old days. But today, where fathers do exist, regardless of race or wealth, the father has been neutered. In many communities, even shouting at a child is considered abusive.

The social engineering that started in the 90’s where a child’s self esteem was placed above all else placed the father’s (or teacher’s) roll as a disciplinarian in harms way.

With our culture slipping deeper and deeper into the grip of our leftist friends, the family has less and less influence on it’s children.

With all this government generated racist crap going on right now, I’d say the pendulum has about reached it’s highest elevation towards the left. People of all colors know what is going on in America is wrong.

But I will say a family with a father is better than a family without.

The police (state agents) are called by the woman to be the dad.

Perhaps a tragedy has taken their father and her husband, but I can’t help thinking that’s not the case. It’s a shame that this had to happen, because it reinforces the state “fathering” children. It’s the commie concept of it takes a village.

Reminds me of when that chain-smoking vegan Gwineth Paltrow named her kid Apple. Now there's a potential case of emotional abuse, these overpaid mannequins giving their kids these crazy names.

Public-school being communist indoctrination has given way now to the government coming into the home in raising your kids for you

By grasping the rose of subsidized illegitimacy to their breasts, black culture impaled itself on the thorns of dependency.

Several issues pop up with this scenario.

First, the obvious lack of a father figure explains this mom's difficulty.

Second, there is no mention made of plans for responsible follow up by any of the male sperm donors, or potential father figures who are related -- or even some faith clergy offering routine faith guidance.

This temporary disciplinary result will fade quickly once these fatherless children get wind of their story going viral, particularly because of the current racially driven anti-police climate - the potential for this effort to backfire badly is yet a sad possibility.

Ten years ago, my family was torn apart by the molestation of my young daughter by a family friend, which lead to divorce. It was horrible. She was living with me (mom) and angry. Her dad was no help at all. We were both in counciling (it can help), but she decided one day that she wasn’t going to go and got pretty belligerent. I gave her the choice; either get in my car or I would call the sheriff and they could take her. She didn’t believe me, so I called and they came. They talked to her, then she got in my car.

They told me that they would much rather help at that point rather that down the road if/when things got worse.

It made quite an impression on her, and she has never forgotten it and told me several times that it is one of the best things I had ever done for her.

She is now 23, a smart kid who finished school, went on to college, is responsible and conservative. She learned that ultimately she was responsible for her behavior and it’s outcome. She won’t put up with friends that blame everyone else for their problems either. And at her age in this generation, that is quite a few.

I say good for that mom. She loves her kid, because that isn’t an easy thing to do.

Geraldo did a point / counterpoint type piece last night on Fox News. A black woman and a black man. The woman advocated for two parent homes and raising children to present as respectable human beings. She was articulate, clear and logical (talked white, I guess is the common parlance)

The man dismissed that... "can't make that happen with a magic wand." His solution was mentoring...getting fraternities and sororities (I infer these to be community organizations) to step in in loco parentis. His solution seemed to be anything BUT two parent families.

The woman pointed out how strange was the uproar over Freddie Gray in light of, I believe eight young black males being killed by black males in Baltimore in the past week. And that for the first time in history, the leading cause of 12 year old black males is murder.

It was a pretty good back and forth, except Gerry interrupted in the middle to run a different piece on rebuilding neighborhoods burned out in 1968. I believe I heard him say that she had been a caller on his radio show. She was awesome. One last thing I recall...She and her HUSBAND raised a son in NYC who had never been accosted, questioned, patted down or arrested. She stated that that raising included teaching their son to act as a respectable human being in the way he dressed, spoke and interacted with other human beings.
