Freddie Gray's death ruled a homicide, police officers charged
Business Insider ^ | 05/01/2015

Prosecutors ruled that Freddie Gray's death was a homicide. Friday morning, State attorney Marilyn Mosby announced that all six officers involved in the incident have been charged and warrants are out for their arrests.

"Six officers are each facing multiple charges, including manslaughter, assault, misconduct in office and false imprisonment: Lt. Brian Rice, Sgt. Alicia White, Officer William Porter, Officer Garrett Miller, Officer Edward Nero and Officer Caesar Goodson," The Baltimore Sun reports. "Goodson, who drove the van, has been charged with second-degree murder."

Mosby described how police arrested Gray on no grounds, violated police procedures by cuffing his hands and legs the van without putting him in a seat belt, and repeatedly failed to provide him with medical attention.

On April 12, Gray was arrested for carrying a knife and his spine was somehow partially severed while in police custody.

Mosby said that the knife was legal and that the officers “failed to establish probable cause for an arrest.”

Gray underwent major surgery, lapsed into a coma, and died on April 19.

“Mr. Gray was no longer breathing at all" when he was removed from the wagon.

His death sparked protests across Baltimore that escalated into riots.

"We know he was not buckled in the transportation wagon as he should have been. No excuses from me. Period," City Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said. "We know our police employees failed to get him medical attention in a timely manner multiple times."

ALSO-The police force are hired on HER watch as well.

The HR system that put animals like that in uniform (if it is proved THEY did this) is culpable, TOO! It is all under the purview of the Mayor.

It's MY view that most of the problems in life are HR problems...and THIS is a sterling example!!

The police are not the judge, jury, and executioners. It is not for them to determine punishment nor to carry it out. We separate those powers for a reason. Police killing detainees is the stuff of third world countries and while quite suitable for Baltimore it is still wrong.

He probably won’t be getting many contributions to his legal defense fund from Freepers!

Remember when Amadou Diallo happened, and they practically had Rudy Giuliani pulling the trigger himself?

This Mayor, Rawlings-Blake, should get the exact same treatment, it was on her watch.

Why would he flee? Could be because he had a knife. Could be because he was afraid of the police officers. Could be both.

He suffered brain damage from lead poisoning as a child.

The War on Police contiues.....

So they can be replaced by Obama's Gestapo, aka his private police. How did America let 15% of its population take control and replace democracy with tyranny.

He was a 25 year old man - not a kid. And a tall man as well.

Anybody notice how short the Baltimore police are - particularly the women? I was shocked to see that on Monday.

Probably this will end up like the cops who were put on trial in L. A., for the Rodney King beating. The first trial had to be held in a different jurisdiction; a change of venue. The cops were found “not guilty” and then the rioting, looting, killing, arson began. A second trial was ordered by the feds to get the result they wanted. If this happens with the Baltimore police officers, the protesters can take to the streets again and burn the remaining neighborhoods.

Have to say the State’s attorney should be arrested for her terrible voice! She’s not biased at all - her indignant and angry tone of voice says it all! She had to dig to the bottom of the barrel for that many charges against the cops. A 35 year old, inexperienced State Attorney is going to make a name for herself. How pitiful. She had to run for the office so we can’t call it affirmative action but we know it was a given when you consider the political makeup of the state.

Not necessarily. Some legal entity decided he was entitled to $$$. Not the same thing.

In a nutshell...

Prosecutor says arrest was unlawful because the arresting officers were not at Terry (reasonable suspicion) or Probable cause soneverything after that was unlawful.

Fred Gray died when he fell over in the back of van and snapped his neck while handcuffed behind his back and legs shackled.

The manslaughter and other death related charges are basically the prosecutor saying since the arrest was unlawful and you didn’t buckle him in.....the car wreck type injuries are criminal.

I wonder how long it will take for the masses and the leftist media to realize their belief that the police beat him to death was false?

“A person running away is not probable cause...”

Exactly. I have no idea where this will end, but my question is why was he arrested in the first place?

Freddie Gray Charging Documents
https://www.scribd.com/doc/263671802/Freddie-Gray-Charging-Documents

Mosby mentioned 2 facts that caught my attention:

1) Cops pursued him on foot. When they caught him, Gray said he couldn’t breathe & asked the cops for an inhaler.

That info could only have come from the cops themselves.

2) The knife he was carrying was legal.

““Why would Freddie run for no reason?”

He had a long rap sheet & was known to police.”

Most of his 18 priors were for drug possession and dealing (some assault, some destruction, etc.).

It appears that he was in the street retailing drugs in a place where it is regularly done, and someone called out a warning to him that the police were coming. He apparently ran to ditch his drugs, before getting caught possessing them and facing more serious charges. It is common practice.
