The Navy made a black pilot Blue Angel #1 in the mid 90s. He previously had been a Blues team member for three years, but he was so dangerous as the flight lead that, to his credit, he eventually grounded himself and resigned as CO. The blame was on the Navy for elevating him to the position based more on race than competence. Now the Navy has done the same with women, and soon to be sure, with homosexuals/lesbians.
