Sports Grid ^ | April 25th, 2015 | Henry McKenna

ESPN’s Keith Olbermann wants the United States to address its issues with rape and domestic abuse. And whether the sporting world knows it or not, fans are given the opportunity to do just that during the 2015 NFL Draft and the upcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao fight.

Jameis Winston is dealing with allegations of sexual assault and Mayweather has five instances of domestic abuse on his criminal record. Yet, Winston is looking like a lock at the No. 1-overall pick, and Mayweather continues to box in the arguably highest profile event in the history of boxing.

I agree with the author. People will ignore anything just so they can be entertained. “Let the games begin!” “They are gods among the people”

Many here criticize politicians saying “let them have cake and eat it” while referring to the French Revolution. Do you really think you have not bought into it?

To me Olbermann’s opinions sound just like an adult on a Charlie Brown show.

Bought into what? My interest in sports has waned dramatically in recent years and even high profiled events such as the obsession with the Super Bowl has disinterested me. From a business standpoint — including stadium/arena public funding for example — is different as it pertains to political and or finances and how some topics can change the landscape of America and even voting. I rarely watch ESPN or national sports channels for multiple reasons.

No lambast political observations during the NFL draft? I’m crushed . . .

Yes the majority have bought into it, from all sides of the political spectrum, or the National Felons League would be out of business.

NFL has only become more popular when fruity celebration dancing and chest slapping displays after even mundane plays became the norm. It boggles my mind that NFL is considered manly and tough when all that swishy dog squeeze is going on. Looking around at the general culture it shouldn’t be surprising it is the most popular US pro sport by far.

They won’t fire him for this and if some women’s group made a big enough stink about it they would quit covering the draft.

Espn is a libtard channel, give little keith what he wants..........watch the draft on the NFL Network, boycott espn.

If women’s groups protest Winston, will tony dungie refuse to say his name?

The charges against Jameis Winston were dropped so that is a little more arguable

Charges were NEVER EVEN FILED against Jameis Winston. In fact, FSU had a former Florida Supreme Court justice review the evidence and even with the lower threshold the Justice Department insists that universities use in their proceedings of just a 'preponderance of evidence' (50%+1 standard), did not find the accuser credible.

Putting him in the same sentence as someone convicted five times in a court of law is preposterous.

Sports figures should not be allowed to continue performing in a public forum when they act like brutal savages.

So they don't have a right to make a living?
What about all the "normal" people with jobs that are guilty of this?
Should they be fired, too?

Draft is on ESPN, I’d fire him if I ran it.

If I ran it of course I never would have hired the piece of garbage in the first place.
