BALTIMORE, Maryland — Racial protests supposed to be peaceful quickly turned into violent riots on Saturday evening, closing down the city of Baltimore for some time—and creating a panic for thousands of people as just 50 miles away elites in Washington partied with President Barack Obama at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Personally, I wasn’t supposed to be on the job tonight as a reporter. After a long news week and as several of my contemporaries lived high on the hog down in D.C. at the so-called “Nerd Prom,” me and my brother left D.C. to go see our Boston Red Sox play the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards I hate the White House Correspondents’ Dinner—it represents everything I think is wrong with Washington, making celebrities out of news media and politicians—and given the fact I grew up just outside Boston I figured seeing the Red Sox play in Baltimore would be a great reprieve from the political culture. Boy was I wrong.

(I stayed at a motel near I65 south of Montgomery Alabama a few years ago. Unknown to me Calypso Louie was giving a speech nearby the next day. It was a little weird to see all the folks dressed like that at the breakfast buffet)
The pic is long gone now, but in 2008, I saw—and looked at for the longest time—a pic of Obama on the tarmac at the Canada airport, when he went up there to talk oil and who knows what. He was flanked on each side by 4 NOI foot soldiers. All black, of course. All in suits.
Sure seems that way.
As these videos surface, seemingly now on a weekly basis, of what clearly appear to look like extrajudicial killings of blacks by police officers, I am forced to face the uncomfortable realization that perhaps there is justification for the anger that is exploding here.
I see our law enforcement increasingly heading in the direction of Brazil or Columbia, places where petty criminals of the underclass are rounded up in the dead of night by balaclava-wearing police, thrown into the back of vans, and never heard from again.
In my adventures in inner city substitute teaching, where ever I went 75% - 95% of the students were wonderful, respectful, and wanted to learn. A very big problem is that many blacks have bought into the great con, which has been going on since the busing riots of 1968. That is that black students with positive leadership potential and ambition would have to leave their local public school to get a decent education. It left a void filled by negative leadership (parents and kids left behind) and in too many cases administrations that pandered to the least desirable elements in their school environment, making excuses for them and excusing their bad behavior.
In spite of all that, many students had a clear vision toward their futures, followed it, learned, and are excellent human beings.
The positive elements in the black community have to speak up. Are there some outrageous cases of police abuse of power? Yes. But they should go through the courts. Want to solve things? Community policing including foot patrols. Stand up to the jerks.
I miss the teaching part of what I was doing. This is my second year of not substituting. But I'm not one for the pandering and excuses and games. And it was getting uncomfortable with some elements in the communities becoming less reasonable and less geared toward positive outcomes.

If the police don’t instigate it, they shouldn’t have to take it.

If Iran gets the nuke capabilities they seek, one blast over Washington DC should seal them in, or flush them out. When that happens, gubmint “officials” will be like nazies in 1945, change clothes and identities, hide under rocks.

I think its started out as a neck sprain. if the stories about people being transported without being buckled into a seat are true, it probably wouldn’t take much to turn a cocked/tilted head into a broken neck
