Turkey’s president has lashed out at country leaders who have recognized the killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks as genocide on the centenary of the massacres.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday accused France, Germany, Russia and Austria—whose leaders or parliaments recently described the killings as genocide—of supporting “claims constructed on Armenian lies.”

He accused the United States of siding with Armenia, although President Barack Obama stopped short of using the term in his annual message.

It was Jihad pure and simple.

so BO’s cowardly weasel words didn’t make friends with his pal Erdogan, supremely funny. as my mother said, you should always do the right thing and others will follow. of course BO has no moral compass and certainly no leadership skills - even at this late date.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.”

President Barack Obama stopped short of using the term in his annual message.

It was workplace violence.

I think we will find in the future how big the mistake was to buddy up with Turkey in NATO. Kinda scary to think they will have our military secrets.

This stuff happened in 1915 and they are still sensitive about it. We are friends with Germany because they have repented. We are friends with Japan because they repented. Apparently Turkey is the same government that fell the the Ottomans. If they still think the same as 1915, how will we ever get along? They did it, everybody knows it, and they won't admit it. Telling....

Not a big surprise that he is trying to re-write history.

Everyone tries to do it.

Our American politicians and other liberal elites have been re-writing the nation’s history since the dawn of The Age Of Political Correctness.

The EU controls NATO now, and they most likely want Turkey still in it for strategic reasons.

"Kick Turkey out of NATO"

Erdogan has already begun talking about leaving NATO/EU to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The only thing keeping Iran out of SCO are the UN sanctions. Pakistan and India have both applied for full membership.

Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan were the West's stopper on Russia and China but that is fading.

Agreed, as long as this Erdogan is the top dog there. But Obama is aligned that way as well. Seems like Erdogan will be welcomed to the US to dedicate a mega-mosque in Maryland. What a disgrace!

Seems obvious that fear of offending Erdogan and his regime prevents Obama from using the term "genocide" when referring to the mass killings of Armenians by Turks c. 1915.

BTW, the Armenian genocide was used as "inspiration" by Hitler and the Nazis in planning their atrocities against the Jews of Europe a couple of decades later.

Erdogan said: "They should first, one-by-one, clean the stains on their own histories."

Tu quoque--a fallacy of logic.

What Erdogan is saying is “You’re just as bad,” which is an admission of guilt.

Turkey’s hypocrisy is clearly visible here, as the arguments they use to support the Palestinian people clearly apply to the Armenians.

We are friends with Germany because they have repented. We are friends with Japan because they repented

The Germans claim they have repented.
The Japanese insist nothing happened, and if anything did happen, they won.

The Russians and Italians won because they changed sides. The French won. The British won. Their former colonies won. The Swiss won because they wound up with the money.

Great war. Nobody "lost."
