Millions of Americans are turning to prayer over the next seven days in a bid to convince the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold traditional marriage between a man and a woman when it considers whether states can ban gay marriage during oral arguments April 28.
The effort hits Washington Saturday when a "March for Marriage" takes place featuring speeches from leaders of several religions.
In addition, networks of at least 145,000 pastors, many with enormous followings, several Evangelical and pro-marriage groups and Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz are leading the effort.
While an easy decision for groups opposed to gay marriage, the issue is potentially divisive for politicians but Cruz has gone all in encouraging the 100,000-pastor network formed by evangelical political activist David Lane to lead the nation in prayer. This week he also introduced legislation to protect states that ban gay marriage. Cruz also used a mini-controversy over saying he would love his daughters if one was gay to explain what unconditional love means to him.
"Sen. Cruz has been the most forward leaning in defense of marriage," said his presidential campaign spokesman Rick Tyler. "He has not shied away from social issues and despite conventional wisdom, it will help him in his campaign not hurt him," he added.
In his letter to the 100,000 pastors, Cruz wrote, "Will we be on the right side of history, the side occupied by the Author of history? Will we discard an institution, ordained by God, which has brought so much stability and happiness to the human family?"
He added: "Rightly or wrongly, the Supreme Court will take a stand on marriage this summer. Let's take ours now." Other potential candidates including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal are also strong supporters of traditional marriage.

I don’t get it. If we were talking about legislators who are voted into office, this sort of thing makes sense. But this kind of court is not run on public opinion. The Judiciary is not supposed to be influenced in any way by public opinion. Do people really want the courts to be places where “voters” can “lobby” judges for a decision? ... LOL ...

Ultimately the decision will hinge on whether or not God intervenes. That is why it is imperative that people get together and hold prayer vigils for this issue.
BTW if you don't believe the Supreme Court is run on public opinion, you haven't studied the Supreme Court's history. They pretend to base their opinions on the Constitution and Stare Decisis, but in the end, they stick their fingers into the air and try to see which way the wind is blowing.

Its’ been 42 years since the USSC declared that unborn persons are not persons. The correct response to that would have been impeachment of seven of the justices and nullification of their rulings by all the governors.
Instead, having rolled over for 45 years, Christians are “praying” that the same rotten institution doesn’t “force” us to accept sodomy-based “marriage.”

Ted Cruz deserves equal time appearing in the video with Huckabee and Santorum. That would improve it.
I'm not a particularly religious person, but I greatly admire Cruz for participating so prominently in defense of traditional marriage.
The fix is in, I have yet to see the killer argument made to the court: The Federal Courts lack jurisdiction as marriaqe is neither a right or a privilege... Want proof, try to marry your sister...
I wonder how many “christians” will deny Christ if the SCOTUS upholds this monstrosity?
Careers will be lost, jobs nowhere to be found, bank accounts possibly confiscated, Churches sent underground?
Those in Christ, need to seriously start thinking about the consequences of really following Him.
