The Senate confirmed President Obamas nominee for attorney general Loretta Lynch in a vote of 56-43, Thursday afternoon.
Ten Republicans joined the Democratic caucus in supporting her confirmation: Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Sen. Orrin Hatch (R- UT), Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL),Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Sen Thad Cochran (R-MS), Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
Lynch will be replacing outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder. Her confirmation will make her the first African-American woman to hold the position.
Lynch nomination was expected to be close but was not closer than Michael Mukaseys 2007 confirmation on a vote of 5340. It was significantly closer than Holders 75-21 confirmation vote.
Much of the GOP caucus had voiced concerns about Lynchs ability to remain an independent voice in the Obama administration, notably pointing to her support for the legal argument behind executive amnesty.
Some argued against her confirmation as a proxy for Obamas executive actions.
We are deeply concerned in this country about the presidents executive amnesty, the unlawfulness of it, the breadth of it, the arrogance of it to the point that its a direct assault on congressional power and legitimacy, direct attack on laws passed by the peoples representatives, and weve got a big problem, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) argued on the Senate floor Thursday.
Ms. Lynch has said, flat-out, that she supports those policies and is committed to defending them in court against any complaint about it, he added.

They need to be removed in order to return this country to what the founders intended.

I wonder what Cruz was doing that he missed the vote?
Did he already know that the fix was in?
Will he expose this?
Mitch is Dingy’s 8itch.
The only upside I see to this is that her tenure will be short.
Well, NSA can put those tapes back in the vault until they are needed again.
Cruz indicated that all was lost in the vote to end debate. The actual vote is kubuki.
RINOs for Absolute Executive Power.
“They need to be removed in order to return this country to what the founders intended.”
Agreed.
yep
Maybe he could expose to us how the leadership decides who should vote for Lynch?
I remember Laura I graham’s support for Ayotte over her opponent... Always seemed to be a genitalia pick. Thanks again, Kelly.
I expected to be enraged but instead am just sort of resigned to this kind of thing until we either change the Republican party or start a third. For example the Tea party.
It has removed what little doubt I had that the Republican leadership was hand in hand with the enemies of America.
don’t be too sure of that.
Obama is seeking absolute power.
The RINOs know this and are enabling him.
For me, its always been a given in recent years that 95 percent of elected Republicans are not Conservatives.
The ten uber RINO’s stand out, but for almost all the others their “No” votes were for show to pretend conservatism.
As long as these folks keep McConnell leading in the Senate with Cornyn, Corker and so on and the House folks keep Boehner and crew in leadership, we know the truth.
95 PERCENT OF ELECTED REPUBLICAN OFFICIALS ARE NOT REAL CONSERVATIVES.....
I have to write in a lot of names at election time and await the sober sane UKIP style party here in the USA.
Ron “Tea Party” Johnson of Wisconsin, often praised by Scott Walker, was in the open and unashamed RINO club on this vote.
she shows up again to diss our country for her own self

No hope in DC, campaigning is better.
Orrin Hatch is a decent man, but he just doesn’t get it. He doesn’t know we’re in a war for the survival of this country. He thinks he’s still dealing with people like Hubert Humphrey.

Then the people of Utah are being ill served
