Poll: Gay-marriage support now at record high
Washington Post ^ | 04/23/2015 | By Scott Clement and Robert Barnes

A record-high 6 in 10 Americans support same-sex marriage and a similar share say individual states should not be allowed to define marriage as only between a man and a woman, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The national debate on same-sex marriage moves to center stage next week, when the Supreme Court hears oral arguments on whether state restrictions on same-sex marriage are unconstitutional.

Courts across the country have agreed with gay-marriage advocates that a Supreme Court ruling in 2013, striking down the federal government’s refusal to recognize legal same-sex unions, means that state restrictions must fall as well.

Next week, the court will be considering whether the Constitution requires that gay couples be allowed to marry and whether states may refuse to recognize same-sex marriages performed outside their borders.

The rapid change in the law tracks a decisive rise in support for allowing gay couples to marry. It is driven by widespread support from younger generations as well as shifting attitudes among their elders.

The Post-ABC poll finds 61 percent of Americans support allowing gays to marry and 35 percent are opposed. Support is up only slightly from last year but is a reversal from public sentiment a decade ago, when opponents outnumbered supporters 58 percent to 39 percent.

I want to believe that people are afraid to say how they truly feel on this issue. But then I turn on the TV and see the crap culture that people are living in, and I wonder.

I wonder if we’re past the point of being worthy of saving.

Morality ain’t determined by polls or majority vote. God, who owns us, determined right and wrong a long time ago, and homosexual anything is wrong. He WILL mercilessly torture them for all eternity, AND all the depraved who support their depravity. Unless they repent.

Aside from the truth of it, since when did what the majority of the people believe in regards to sodomite unions, matter to the left? State after state has votes against it, only to have the will of the people nullified by the courts.

People say they “approve” to make the pollsters go away. Tell them what they want to hear.

The press has made gay marriage their pet project for a decade. People are worn down by the constant barrage of gay friendly news coverage.

There was a time in America where 6 in 10 thought slavery was okay.
Well it wasn’t.
Neither is homosexual marriage.

We are confronted with the likes of ISIS in this world and then, this immigration mess; people could care less about same-sex marriage.

The poll is kinda fishy.

Did they only interview people in San Francisco?

I have never been called for a poll. I wish someone would call me, from one of these MSM outlets. They'd want me to go away before I was through.

I care, and a lot of Bible-believing Christians that I know also care. It’s a big push over the finish line in the race to destroy western civilisation.

I think a lot of folks thought the voting margins of the marriage amendment victories of the middle of the last decade were set it stone and would never be changing. That’s not what happened. If you go by actual votes on the issue, North Carolina voters are around 12 years behind the voters of California on the issue. If you would have told someone that in the year 2000 they would have never believed you. So if that’s the trend we can see with actual votes, where are we going to be in another 10 years? In 30?

Exactly. If the majority of “citizens” support the degenerate lifestyle then they can VOTE to legalize homosexual “marriage”. You would not need a federal court order because the states would do it themselves. This is proof that the poll is bunk.

States should follow Oklahoma’s lead and get out of the marriage business completely then.

...and yet every single homosexual “marriage” ballot measure has been defeated. Only the courts approve of queer “marriage.”

Same-sex marriage was enacted by popular vote in MD, ME and WA. A referendum to ban same-sex marriage was defeated in MN.

Same-sex marriage was enacted by the vote of the legislatures in CT, DC, DE, HI, IL, MN, NY, RI and VT.

The article won’t open on my phone. Does the poll include any questions on whether businesses and individuals who oppose same-sex marriage should be allowed to act in accordance with their beliefs.

I care about the issue. Because if the end-result is an America that is a deviant, morally depraved nation that genuinely equates two homo pervs as being legally and morally the same as a husband-and-wife... then I no longer have a country I care about fighting for or defending.

It renders everything moot for me. Isis, Putin, China, ebola, whatever. America can indeed burn to the ground for all I care. I wouldn’t lift a finger for such a country.
