This is a typical feature of text-posting sites. If you accidentally close your browser after typing in a whole page of important stuff, you can recover what you typed.
Free Republic doesn’t have it. If I closed my browser now, this important post would be gone, and I’d have to redo it.

There are more important reasons NOT to have a Facebook account.
It allows intrusions for Trojan Horse infiltration of your hard drive.
You will never see it.
It allow “outside interests” to use your system as a server for whatever use they like.
Money laundering, Porn storage and distribution, clandestine communication....

I read about this recently somewhere else, too.
As a Facebook newbie, I noticed some strange things happening, so I searched and found another article that said Facebook collects the info that we type but don’t post.

All the information about you is stored on the server, and you cannot delete it. All you can delete is the means of convenient or automatic login (cookies.) But note that social networks have means other than cookies to track you. Removal of your browsing history has no effect whatsoever.
