so does that mean when I delete cookies and browsing history after visit fb I have not rid my computer of it all..?

Correct. All the information about you is stored on the server, and you cannot delete it. All you can delete is the means of convenient or automatic login (cookies.) But note that social networks have means other than cookies to track you. Removal of your browsing history has no effect whatsoever.
