The Saudi-led coalition will now begin a new phase, titled 'Operation Restoring Hope', according to the statement of the Saudi defense ministry.

Saudi-led coalition operations in Yemen are now entering a political phase. The airstrikes have eliminated all threats against the kingdom and the neighboring countries through the destruction of the heavy arms and ballistic missiles that were seized by the Houthi militias and pro-Saleh forces, according to a statement by the defense ministry.

A coalition spokesman said the decision to end operation Firmness Storm followed a request from the Yemeni government.

…and apparently the Egyptians, despite the huge Saudi subsidies to their economy, did not agree to fight.

Between Libya, Gaza and the Muslim Brotherhood, the Egyptians have other things to keep their army home for.

Those stories are almost a month old, and still no troops on the ground in Yemen. And now with the Saudis backing off, there's no way the Egyptians are going to commit troops.

Egyptian troops spent most of the 1960s in Yemen, trying to prop up the military coup. 10,000 Egyptians died there, massive amounts of money were spent, and it became known as "Egypt's Vietnam." And while they were willing to send some airstrikes and move a couple of destroyers to pay back the Saudis for all the money they're giving them, it's unlikely they're going to do more.

And now with the Saudis backing off,

I don't see the Saudis bringing in the National Guard as backing off.

Two stories are a month old. The one a week ago says they’re still mulling.

I guess we’ll see. I’ll be very surprised if Egypt sends more than a token force, though.

‘Operation Restoring Hope’ sounds like something the Obama administration may have named for them.

“Firmness Storm” and “ Operation Restoring Hope”

are they paying the moron who suggested that obama run on HOPE and CHANGE to come up with these stupid names?

Firmness Storm has to be the most...inane name for a military campaign EVER..

Supposedly Saudi national Guard is more like our special forces and the people there are afraid of them...but that does remain to be seen.

The Arab Spring is nothing more than shaking the ME off kilter so the Globalist can align it as they will. Additionally it's about 'forced' immigration....moving so called Muslim refuge's here ...NOT to assimilate...but to integrate...Watch the vocabulary switch. No-body’s using assimilate any more. The idea of our Government is to have Muslim "communities within our country living side by side....which isn't possible but that's what they are doing.

“Firmness Storm”? “Restoring Hope”? Do the Saudis pay the same people we do to come up with names for military operations?

If the Saudi Royals were overthrown, would this cause there to be more or less financial support for those Wahabi madrassas spread all over the world? Is there a more Eurocentric group of young moneyed class that might gain increased power? I know a lot of them go to schools overseas. What role if any would women play in all this? What impact would this have on the Haj?

Could these names be translations from Arabic that have more subtle meanings in Arabic? For example, the word Daesh that some Arabs prefer to use for ISIS/ISIL, has a standard meaning, but also a rather insulting meaning related, I think, to feet. Remember the insult of throwing a shoe at President Bush?

The Saudi’s fight and die for themselves? Not likely. Site they’ll the get the West to do their fighting for them, and they’ll get young men and women to blow themselves up to kill others but they don’t want to die.

They are either running scared, which is likely, or, they’re waiting on our carrier, also possible.

To a sane person for us to fight Iran in Yemen and to help them get nuclear weapons at home is utter insanity. But, when you have sociopaths running your country and Pentagon brass who are cowards this is what you end up with.
