A military veteran was reportedly detained and charged by Valdosta State University police in Georgia Friday after she took an American flag from a group of protesters who were walking on it.
The Valdosta Daily Times reports Michelle Manhart, an Air Force veteran, said she wanted to take action after hearing about the group’s demonstrations, but did not want to take the flag from them.

I wonder, if the situation were exactly the same, but the protesters were walking on a Muzzie flag, who would be charged, and with what? Many times, when things like this get widespread publicity, the dirt bags back off. I hope the dirt bags back off from this too. Maybe walking on a US flag wasn’t the most brilliant thing for these nut cases to do.

Hey, at least she was man enough to serve in uniform. That’s a lot more than Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, etc. have done.
That Staff Sargent has more ribbons on her shirt than I had on my uniform during my entire term in the Air Force and that was six years.
My question is did she earn them or are they just routinely handing them out like candy.
During my tour it was damned hard to get any decorations unless you did something truly outstanding.
To all the negative wisecracks on this site . the lady veteran should be praised for her actions in defending our Flag.
The Mall Police who arrested her should be put out of their Jobs since they arrested the wrong person.
Evidently these Students have learned NOTHING about patriotism
and Honor and will learn nothing in their lives at this school.

The damn SCOTUS is responsible for this crap. The first Amendment protects freedom of SPEECH,not “EXPRESSION”!!
There dirt all dogs shouldn’t be allowed to insult our flag, dammit. You can’t walk naked down the street or burn a cross. The American Flag deserves the same level of protection as the sensibilities of society.
When the idiots on SCOTUS come down with moronic decisions they should be impeached and Congress should have the power to void their decisions with a 2/3 rds vote.

Her name is “Manhart”. I am humbled at the appropriateness of her name. She shows more guts and, let me say, balls than whoever arrested her.

It took me 26 years in the Navy to get that many ribbons. I wish these old 76 year old eyes were good enough to look them up. And a staff sgt to boot. Good gawd.
All tax payer funding should be removed from this institution of higher learning.
