Note to NRA: We are not a nation under violent siege(barf alert)
Chicago Tribune ^ | 17 apr 2015 | Francis Wilkinson

Last weekend’s National Rifle Association annual meeting in Nashville, Tenn., had something for everyone. For mainstream NRA members, there were guns aplenty. For the gullible, there was a discussion of “no-go zones” U.S. neighborhoods living under the iron hijab of the Sharia, or Islamic law. For liberals and gun-regulation advocates, there was seemingly endless fodder for snark.

There may even have been an answer to a crucial question: Why now?

Why are gun-industry sales so robust, and the gun movement so militant, at this particular moment? Sure, the U.S. Supreme Court emboldened the movement with its 2008 decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, which for the first time established an unambiguous individual right to bear arms outside a well- regulated militia. But that hardly explains years of record gun sales or the wave of maximalist gun legislation sweeping the South and much of the West. Heller established a (regulated) right to arms. It didn’t require them in every corner bar.

There's the nub of the problem because so few have read and understood the cycle of history. The oblivious crowd then turns to ridicule and labeling that which they never will understand, attempting to incite the clueless.

Of course we're "under siege": like the author, there are a great many who not just want us to give up our guns, but intend to do so under threat of lethal violence against us. We too often overlook how far others are willing to go to make their ideals into reality. Overstating it? really? example: NY legislation prohibited putting a single extra round in a magazine, beyond a 7 round limit, punishable by a half-year in prison; is that not a threat akin to "under siege"? example: cut a shotgun barrel down to 1mm less than 18" without permission & payment, face 10 years prison; is that not a threat akin to "under siege"?

We need to loudly retort: "you ask for 'reasonable restrictions', yet threaten horrifying consequences to minor transgressions - is that not BULLYING?"

That title should read:

We are not a nation under violent siege... YET.

How many illegals have poured cross our unprotected borders in the past few years?

How many Muslims have been imported into this country, most of whom are inassimilable and many of whom either are or sympathize with our deadly enemies?

How about the known ISIS and al Qaeda cells and training camps either close-by or inside our own borders?

How many direct action cell Muslim terrorists have penetrated through these porous borders and are just awaiting the order to strike our soft targets?

Any idea how many violent and armed gang members are out there?

Drug cartels run our southern border, practically run several of our major cities, and operate almost without opposition across our country.

What about the militarization of the police and the subversion of justice under the DOJ?

And let's not even talk about our own Administration stirring up racial hatred on a monumental scale and all that means!

... and that is just a short list...

And this Liberal punk living in a city where a quarter of it is unsafe for him to even walk down the street in has the cheek to say we are not a nation under violent siege or threat of it but it is all in our imaginations? He must be writing his columns from New Zealand!

There has always been no-go areas in America. From “Indian country” to segregated towns and cities. Whites did not go into N-town after dark, and blacks did not go into white areas after dark.
Some of these places were so dangerous you did not even go in the day!

And THIS was before desegregation!

That's an easy one to answer.

Two Words: Barack Obama

“Note to NRA: We are not a nation under violent siege”

Pure strawman argument, except when it isn’t.

To the left, black neighborhoods are all under violent siege.

But the real answer is clear. The current administration is clearly voiding Constitutional protections on many levels. The legislature seems clearly subborned or under extortion; the media clearly supporting the de facto coup; the courts loath to hold the line.

That is why the mass buying of arms and ammunition.

I thought white policemen were on a rampage to kill black youths?
