The US Congress will have a say on a nuclear deal with Iran, under a new agreement reached with the White House.
President Barack Obama withdrew his opposition to a bipartisan bill that was unanimously passed through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
The bill means the administration must immediately send text of a final deal to Congress.
An outline agreement on the future shape of Iran's nuclear programme was reached after marathon talks in April.
The US, Iran, and four other nations have set a deadline of 30 June to finalise a deal which would ease western sanctions in exchange for restrictions on Iran's nuclear programme.
Some Republicans have argued against the deal, saying that Iran has received too many concessions.

Iran will get everything they want: the removal of sanctions. All Obama needs is thirty-four of the most left-wing Democrat Senators to vote in favor of this treaty. Then Obama wins and both Israel and America lose: lose their security and their future.
Some of us stand by and bleat that it will not be a treaty, allowing Obama a free hand. Those who take that position are as supportive of Israel as Caspar Weinberger or James Baker was and is.
He did...... Mark Levin is livid !
They’re going to raise our taxes and take our freedom.
What you thought it would be good news for you?
There’s absolutely no reason for the Senate to make a deal on Iran. Obama should have been left hanging, but... These are the Republicans. Obama offered something to their cronies, so they’re playing ball.
Mark Levin was all over it last night. Obama no longer needs 67% of the senate for ratification. The senate needs 67% to stop ratification.
It’s not good. It’s really bad.

The legitimates Obama’s illegal treaty and effectively gives the president sole power to make treaties.
You are 180 deg wrong.

I have not seen a single Republican Senator, including the most ardent pro-Israeli hawks in the Senate, make the claim that it is a treaty. Just because some talk show host makes such a claim does not make it so.
Not every bilateral agreement is a treaty. Otherwise everything is a treaty...
Yup, heard that. Who would ever predict that these jackasses would once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
Instead of ceding its oversight powers, the Senate should seek a USSC injunction. I'll be disappointed if Cruz does not advocate this course.
Just because Obama claims it will be an executive agreement does not make it so.
That White House talking point is what the MSM is parroting this morning.
It's a treaty.
I am willing to rethink. I could be wrong. If Cruz votes Nay, I will figure I was definitely wrong.
However, I was sorry to hear Levin calling for war. Is that all we got as an option to “war by other means” (diplomacy)?
Is there another way for Congress to “get some skin in the game”?
Iran’s nuclear programme was reached after a fifty billion dollar bribe was set the gold rush in on boys were all going to fat city on this deal.
