I enjoyed Letterman until he turned into a nasty, vicious and hateful ultra-leftist.

In the 80’s he was must watch TV. I loved the Kaufman/Lawler incident.

A buck-toothed Howdy Doody with not one iota of funny in him. I am amazed he got so far and for so long.

A sad ending to a former funny man..to think, he was so cutting edge in the 80’s..then turned hateful and ugly in the last 20 years..

Stars? Could not care less about any of them. Don’t mind me if I miss this, I’ve got some paint drying somewhere.

I used to watch him, back in the 80’s, when he was funny. Now he’s just a talent-less, communist, philandering, hack. Glad to see him go, he’s been on way too long.

I can’t say that I have a very much respect for him right now. He who made very extremely rude remarks about Bristol Palin and then is found to be a serial adulterer and to have used female underlings for that purpose ( probably not terribly different from Bill Cosby in some instances). Deep down, he epitomizes how shallow both he and his ilk really are.

Not surprised. Letterman is actually older than Jay Leno, who retired from The Tonight Show in February 2014.

Yeah. In 1982, I was going through a some tough months. One of the highlights of my day was watching Letterman. No matter how bad the day was, he always cheered me up and made me laugh.

I watched him often for the remainder of the decade.

I haven't watched in many years, so I can't comment on him or the show as they currently are, but I'll always be grateful to him for brightening some dark days way back then.

Same here. Decades ago he was creative, fresh, funny and less political. Somehow he burnt out and lost his way. He is a bit painful to watch now.
