Look at your auto warranty. Voluntary arbitration is not new in our country. Why blast Jews like they are in the same class as Muslims?

I think you’re wasting your bytes.

These people can’t seem to realize that they can’t deny rights to Muslims that are allowed to Jews, Mennonites and other religious groups, simply because they dislike Islam and approve of the other groups.

I dislike Islam, but I approve of religious freedom, even for religions that have a lot of really, really bad features.

The alternative is to have a government agency which decides which religions are “really religions” deserving of 1A protection, and which are not.

Now there’s a slippery slope for you! Consider such agency deciding that any group that practices hate (also known as disapproval) towards homosexuals isn’t “really” a religion, and shouldn’t be protected under 1A. I’ve actually seen quite a number of comments on liberal sites to this effect.

I’m not blasting Jews or sayings they (we) are in the same class as Muslims. I was just responding to people asking how this “sharia court” is legal, by explaining that it (like other religious “courts” in the U.S., including Jewish courts) functions as a form of arbitration.

“government agency which decides which religions are “really religions” deserving of 1A protection, and which are not.”

Exactly. I wish people would take a second and think through the actual implications of the “Islam does not deserve First Amendment protections” argument.

Wake up! This is the “nation within a our nation” concept many people are talking about.

Let them go back to the middle east if they want to live under Sharia law.

The eyes of Texas are upon them...

Perry is out of office. Abbott is the new governor; I don’t know his stance on this, but doubt he is for it.

You should know perfectly well why it isn’t going to happen by singling out one religious minority. It applies to all religious minorities with functioning legal courts, and not just one.

Many religions have courts in this nation that only apply to their members. You single out one religion and ignore the others you’ll soon be going to SCOTUS.

The best way to handle this is by having the Federal Govt. declare that Islam is not a religion but a vicious cult and cannnot operate in the U.S.A.

“Their religious laws do not trump secular laws.”

That’s the key; do the Mennonite, Jewish, and other religious tribunals ever issue decisions that go -against- the national, state, local laws?
