In the wake of the Indiana donnybrook over religious liberty, which somehow was transformed overnight into a question of gay rights, it couldnt be long before the New York Times weighed in against Christians.
Yet who could have expected the draconian measures the Times would propose? Either Christians fully embrace the gay lifestyle, or you will be coerced into doing so.

Citizens are not individually sovereign. It is the body of the people that make up the sovereign in America. So, again, you're simply mistaken.
No. That's a fiction you created in your own mind.
But you have to act in concert with them. You can’t go shooting them down. So again you are mistaken.
No, you are caught in denial.
You're confusing "right" and "power." A common error.
There is, however, a tradition for not allowing ourselves to be told by government how to worship God. It is on that point we ran afoul of the Roman authorities (who accused Christians of being atheists), and it is on that point this columnist is attacking us.
WIth every duty comes a right. What sophistical silliness are you leaning on to say that God wanted Nero to execute murderers but Nero had no right to do so?
Denial of what? That this is somehow a "church battle," to use your term?
You seem to have a severe misunderstanding of what is happening. Unbelievers, unlawfully using the levers of government, are tyrannically trying to force Christians to accept and approve what God calls abominations.
Please explain exactly how that is a "church battle."
So, we’re supposed to give gays a gold star for failing basic plumbing 101?
Who said he had no right or duty to execute murderers?
Why not?
That's what many if not most churches have done with premarital sex. In practice if not in theory.
Would like to point out that if Christians are actually faithful to what they claim to believe they would be willing to be scorned, imprisoned or even executed to remain faithful.
F**k you and your totalitarian allies Thomas D. Williams. I will never submit to your ilk.
Nero, or should I say the Roman government, had the lawful authority to execute murderers. What they didn’t have was lawful, God-ordained authority to kill Christians, or to force them to dney Christ, or worship Caesar, or to kill babies, or to approve of, and cooperate with, sodomite practices. As soon as they did the latter, they became tyrants who had to be resisted, even unto death.
I would like to second your comment. All in favor say Aye.
Frank Bruni not Thomas D. Williams.
Epic!
There is no fighting with Christ. He shows up and the battle is over, but we get to watch.
ROFLOL!!!
Just realized at least one other way in which most Christian churches, even conservative ones, have moved away from a strict interpretation of the Bible.
The NT is pretty clear that women are to have a subordinate role in the congregation, not taking leading roles in preaching or prayer. From what I’ve seen of church services, this is being pretty thoroughly ignored by most churches.
Which brings up the interesting question of what is the logical basis of determining whether we will insist on fighting to the end to enforce some doctrines while quietly ignoring others.
Interesting case
