ending mandatory minimum sentences.

Sheeeeyit. Talk to any cop and he or she will tell you the most frustrating thing about the job is watching the perp they just arrested walking scot free while he or she is still writing the arrest report.

Refreshing, isn’t it?

I wish we could all get behind one candidate, but I doubt that will ever happen. Still it’s wonderful to finally have an election we can all get excited about. So tiring to see the same handpicked retreads running over and over again.

Yes, he is. The US and Kentucky might have been with a Democrat had they run one that wasn’t a far left one.

If you are going to make the claim, then show the numbers, how many Americans are in prison for smoking pot?

GW led the crushing governmental response to the Whiskey Rebellion.

He’s not going to get black voters no matter what he promises. Republicans never do. This policy will run off any conservative vote he may have been hoping for.

Although I think incarcerating people and taking their property for possession of small amounts of drugs as giving long terms in prision wrong, I think all violent crime should be seriously dealt with. Property crime should be handled seriously, too. And gangs...we need to go after gangs and get them off the streets as they are corrupting the young.

I’m in favor of reducing the US’s place near the top of the incarceration rate by reevaluating sentencing policies but welfare for felons is insane. There is a difference between not shooting ourselves in the foot with excessive punitiveness and rewarding bad behavior. Cant Rand keep from shooting past reasonable positions and off the cliff?

A lot of so-called non-violent drug convictions are the result of plea bargains where prosecutors have difficulty getting victims to testify because of the fear of retaliation. With a drug possession charge, only the arresting officer and the lab tech needs to testify. They are getting violent criminals on drug possession the way they got Al Capone on tax evasion.

Exactly. Even if no one is home it does violence to your home and security.

Alinsky once said, he'd "...rather steal than get welfare".

Burglars are getting a perverse type of welfare, especially as they can commit multiple burglaries daily. (And that they get the advantage of a "first offense" plea as juveniles, then again as adults).
