GOV JERRY BROWN: CALIFORNIANS TO BE HEAVILY FINED FOR LONG SHOWERS
Breitbart ^ | April 5, 2015 | Pam Key

Posted on 04/05/2015 3:36:45 PM PDT by MeshugeMikey

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA) said Californians will face heavy fines for taking long showers.

Brown said, “This executive order is done under emergency power. It has the force of law. Very unusual. It’s requiring action and changes in behavior from the Oregon border all the way to the Mexican border. It affects lawns. It affects people’s — how long they stay in the shower. How businesses use water.”

Brown said to enforce his order, “Each water district that actually delivers waters — water to homes and businesses, they carry it out. We have a state water board that overseas the relationships with the districts. Hundreds of them. If they don’t comply, people can be fined $500 a day. Districts can go to court to get a cease and desist order. The enforcement mechanism is powerful. In a drought of this magnitude, you have to change that behavior and you have to change it substantially.”

Are there going to be bureaucrats standing in every one’s bathroom timing their shower?

Initially, just Obama and Reggie...and, as demand grows, other perverts will be sought.

Long defined by whom?

Have no fear! A new state department of "Home shower water usage" will be established, with official badges, of course, and full pensions and benefits. Their job will be to monitor home water usage in the AM, and knock on doors of potential offenders. Will full enforcement support, of course!

"Excuse me, Ma'am, but you seem to evidence a pattern of taking long showers. Can you step outside, please?"

why do they want almost unlimited immigration and a water using public works project-high speed rail?

Maybe the immigrants don't shower as much, and there's probably no showers on a high speed rail train. Remember, to understand liberals you gotta think outside the box.

Does this apply to Jerry’s Hollywood buddies as well, or just for the common folk?

How about fining illegal aliens $500 a day? That would decrease the population of CA by millions of water users very quickly.

The foolish Gov. should have built desalinization plants to assuage the situation during severe droughts. But being good dims they squandered their opprutunity to prepare for the inevitable. I wish them luck but I don’t think they will have any.

“More water used for almond production than is used by all residents and businesses in San Francisco and Los Angeles combined.”

Looks like one of those logic puzzles where the answer is

all water is consumed by nuts

One problem: I have already done everything I can, short of going thirsty.
Last year I did not water my lawn, not a single time.
Drip irrigation of 2 tomato and one yellow squash plant.
Low flow shower head, 1.2 gallon toilet.
I use on average 90 gallons per day.
How in the h*ll can I cut back any more?
Plenty of water for the ‘Snail darter’ though.

“Long defined by whom?”

I admit that I’m cheap! At the 1830 farmhouse, we had a huge electric water heater. I learned to get wet, turn off the shower and soap up and was, then turn the shower back on to rinse. I still do that. I hate the Cleveland Water Company. And, for 30 years, I operated a small public water supply.

How excited the Progs must be. Mandatory rationing, state control of every flush and spritz, dictatorship by drought. Shortages and behavior modification - the BelAir Bolshevik twofer.

Increase water supplies? Are you kidding? Never let a good crisis go to waste!

California is a huge state, with many different micro-ecosystems....

Not every region of CA is in drought, and some areas have adequate water supply.

A one size fits all approach is stupid....and I doubt the legality of Moonbeam’s EO....
