Unemployment Rate Unchanged At 5.5%, US Employers Added A Lower-Than-Expected 126,000 Jobs in March

U.S. employers added 126,000 jobs in March as the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.5 percent, the Labor Department said Friday. Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had expected net job growth of 250,000 last month. February was revised down from 295,000 to 264,000.

The drop in March is under the average 269,000 jobs added over the previous 12 months. Job creation jumped in February despite harsh winter weather, and the U.S. has added at least 200,000 jobs per month for 12 consecutive months, a feat not seen in 20 years.

However, the sharp gains in job creation in recent months shouldn’t be expected to continue, says Tara Sinclair, chief economist at Indeed. “That’s a recovery, not a standard. Once we hit full employment, we’re going to drop well below what we’ve gotten used to in the last year,” Sinclair said.

The average hourly earnings for private-sector workers rose by 7 cents to $24.86. For most workers, however, real wages have fallen or remained flat for more than three decades. Many Americans who work part-time jobs want to work full time, and nearly two-thirds who are able to work have dropped out of the labor force, the highest portion opting out of work since the 1970s. The labor-force participation rate was little changed at 62.7 percent.

The number of Americans who have been out of work for 27 weeks or longer was essentially unchanged last month, at 2.6 million, or 29.8 percent of the unemployed.

5.5 is a hideous lie and fabrication. it’s more like 33%.

I am well prepared for the "unexpectedly" bad numbers in 2015. My wine stock is nearing 20 bottles, the most ever. I've cast aside my mantra of "waiting for a special occasion" to uncork the vintages I've purchased during my travels over the past year.

Thankfully, spring is here and I will be pumping the local atmosphere with greenhouse gasses from my new wood pellet barbecue. Whether it's chicken or bison/beef, I will have the right wine pairing for our feasts. Lol

What? Sharp gains????

Recovery???

Man, this guy's on something that is probably illegal in most states.

Yes, but Democrat Leader employment is at 100%.

And you should see what their hourly wage is for stealing from the taxpayers!

Good heavens. Not that you need proof of how in-the-tank, and useless the MSM is BUT, it remains shocking that the worst President of all time is given a pass when:

The US economy continues to deteriorate.
several millions of Americans have given up hope of a good job.
Radical Islam is on the march throughout the world.
Our healthcare system is being ruined.
Open season has been declared on Christians.
Race relations are at the worst point in 50 years.
On and on.

Our press is willfully ignoring the ongoing catastrophe. They sow the seeds of their own destruction by pursuing the trivial and inane.

It is like watching Gomez Addams and his train set.

BS. The reality is that total nonfarm payroll employment for BOTH January and February were revised DOWNWARD by significant amounts.

You nailed it. Democrat leaders are stealing from the taxpayers. That in essence is their job description.

“Our press is willfully ignoring the ongoing catastrophe.”

It isn’t just the press. Where its the GOP? Why aren’t they hitting everyday the issue of 33% of the working age population being unemployed? Why aren’t they talking about the part time workers who want full time jobs? Why aren’t they talking about the fact most of the net new jobs created over the past six years have been part time jobs? Why aren’t they talking about the declining standard of living for the average household?

One of the things that disappointed me the most was Romney’s failure in 2012 to daily talk about the bad economy. He let Harry Reid, Obama, and the press beat him up over being wealthy. He should have been firing back with both barrels talking about the bad economy. He should have been giving speeches at shuttered storefronts and closed factories. Instead he just took the punches.

Same thing today. Where are Boehner, McConnell, McCain, my two GOP Senators, and my GOP House representative? They are silent. When I write to my senators and representatives I receive a canned propaganda piece talking about how hard they are working for the middle class.

Yep, 5.5% is nothing but economic legerdemain all fabricated to allow the administration to put a happy face on dismal numbers.

This is why we need a $15 minimum wage, a carbon tax to increase energy prices, open borders to allow more low wage criminals into the labor pool, free community college awarding AA diplomas in social justice, and Obamacare mandates on evil small business.

To think otherwise is RACIST!
