I respect law enforcement.. but I have seen and experienced a few over zealous “suburban” cops over the last ten years. I’m not sure if this is due to the cadets they’re attracting or boredom. That said I can’t imagine the daily stress an “urban” cop has to deal with.

Not accurately, this cop’s mistake was to screw with a protected project of the leftards.

Delivery of “street justice” is encouraged except when it applies to Just Us protected projects and folks.

Anyone recall an NYPD choking incident over a couple of singles and the black, female Sergeant on scene was suddenly excused.

Re-read your post. It reads as thought you are exonerating him.

If a cop acts lawfully he should have no problem with being filmed. I submit that if the entire confrontation between Officer Wilson and Brown had been filmed the Ferguson situation would never have happened.

Why can’t cops get it through their head that anytime they get out of their cars and sometimes in their cars, someone is filming them?

That's really not the issue. Why can't they just treat people with respect? It should not matter if they are on video or not.

I’m saying, some people will antagonize the cop ON PURPOSE, just to see if he will explode - so they can film him - and continue to level the mantra, “all cops are bad”.

I do believe body cameras are going to help stop that.

Somehow, it seems the cop is never given the benefit of the doubt. While everyone else is allowed all sorts of leeway, or excuses for their actions.

“discourtesy and obscene language”

This is a typical traffic stop from my experiences.

No matter how bad or corrupt a cop is, he will never be fired.

Public employee unions design the "work rules" for police officers and interfere with disciplinary action. This is merely what the results look like.

Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean people AREN’T out to get you.

And sometimes people act with courtesy and apologize to the cop even when an apology is not necessary in order to calm the cop down and yet the cop is still aggressive. As shown in this video.

Videotaping will change behavior on both sides. Hopefully.

Sometimes .. just keeping your MOUTH SHUT is the best plan.

If you want for the cop to approach your car and comply with his request for your license and registration; what is there for them to get huffy about ..??

I’ve never in my long life had a cop react badly to me.

But, if you watch COPS, you’ll see people bad mouth the cops all the time. Some of the cops react and some of them don’t. And .. when some of them react, it just makes the situation worse .. for them and for the person they stopped.

That’s my final statement on the situation.

Police unions oppose body cameras. Why do you think that is?

“And this is the exact reason cops are getting a bad rap. Some believe the law only applies to civilians.

Bad apple in the big apple.”

You are mostly correct, but you need to change the word “some” to the word “most.” Speeding without cause and without lights and siren, improper lane change, the list is endless. Then they are rude and abusive to you like they have some God-given right to do so “in order to protect themselves.”

“Stripped of badge and gun...BUT he still has a job.
No matter how bad or corrupt a cop is, he will never be fired.”

Just like the “bad” teachers in NYC. They get to go to a building and sit all day doing whatever they choose, and they continue to get paid. We also need to put cameras in every PS classroom in the country.

No. In that case police unions would be for it. Police unions are AGAINST body cameras. Why?

“...He said that he could not understand the attitude of the younger guys. ...”

That’s probably back in his day, he was a Peace Officer. His job was to “keep the peace”.

Now, they’re Law Enforcement (!!!!!!!! Comply, damnit!) Officers.

Words mean things. And words foster attitudes. And then attitudes generate new words to justify the actions taken due to those attitudes.

I have a relative who has been a cop for nearly 35 yrs. and friends of this relative have told me they would have citizens and many time minority citizens specifically ask for him when they called the police. Why? Because he would listen to their story, act fairly and treat them with respect as long as they showed the same respect toward him. And they remembered that and in many cases he had arrested them or their friends or relatives, yet they would continue to ask for him.

On the other hand his policy is once the situation get to the point where he says you are under arrest the discussion ends, on go the cuffs and into the car you go, if you resist he will thump you.

My son is interested in law enforcement and I have encouraged him to be more like Andy Griffith than Barney Fife on a steroid binge. The cop in the video is nothing more than punk with a badge on a power trip.

I’ve never in my long life had a cop react badly to me.

Then you've been sheltered too long. Not that its a bad thing, you've been luckier than others. I'm a retired senior, but I've seen plenty of bad cops from my teen years up. One time as a 16-year-old getting yanked out my car along with my teen friend and assaulted by cops. I suspect it had to do with my best friend being black. We were tossed around against the car and berated, a cop searched my car and stole some stuff. My dad went with me to the police station to complain, but the cops stuck together and the desk sergeant wouldn't do anything. This wasn't the first incident, nor the last of this type. I ended up working with police departments over a couple decades. I knew a lot of good cops, but there are some bad ones on the streets. One time a couple rookies were giving me and my wife a bad time falsely accusing me of a traffic violation, and I ended up berating them, because I told them they were making me late for a meeting with a police captain (true). They turned tail so quickly. Some cops are punks who like lording it over civilians.
