Then you've been sheltered too long. Not that its a bad thing, you've been luckier than others. I'm a retired senior, but I've seen plenty of bad cops from my teen years up. One time as a 16-year-old getting yanked out my car along with my teen friend and assaulted by cops. I suspect it had to do with my best friend being black. We were tossed around against the car and berated, a cop searched my car and stole some stuff. My dad went with me to the police station to complain, but the cops stuck together and the desk sergeant wouldn't do anything. This wasn't the first incident, nor the last of this type. I ended up working with police departments over a couple decades. I knew a lot of good cops, but there are some bad ones on the streets. One time a couple rookies were giving me and my wife a bad time falsely accusing me of a traffic violation, and I ended up berating them, because I told them they were making me late for a meeting with a police captain (true). They turned tail so quickly. Some cops are punks who like lording it over civilians.
No, I wasn’t “sheltered”.
I had parents who obeyed the law. They taught me to obey the law. It’s amazing how much LESS TROUBLE you have in life if you just obey the law.
I’m not saying the law is always right.
