Those fish in the bay are cool. There are 1000’s of them and if you stand still in about 4 feet of water they will come within about 2 feet of you

Nicely put post-obit. Great post. I have never before seen a photo of Salinger.

Thanks for the post.

Odd little article.

Interesting thing about Salinger is he didn’t quit, he wthdrew from the public. He kept writing and gave instructions for the work to be published after he died.

I think the first of them will be released this year.

This is intriguing and his discipline to do it impressive. But he was a piece of work.

Consider the needlefish: Our heavenly Father feeds them, and sometimes uses us to do the same. Observe their splendor: Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed all in silver like one of them, on a perfect day

Good piece.

I recommend Joyce Maynard’s memoirs which includes her awful relationship with Salinger. Joyce is a very nice person and a great writer.

Born in 1919, he became a recluse in the 1950s, except for occasional affairs with literary-star-struck teenagers.

My son and I were snorkeling twenty years ago and some folks told us there was a squid in the area. Sure enough, there was. It seemed to “like people”. It would come in very close and stay. It would go to changing colors like mad. I had never seen anything like it before or since. “The Spark of Life”. Out of the water and lifeless you would never guess at the amazing, kaleidoscopic brilliance the creatures are capable of. Nothing else like it.
