Flashback: Hewlett-Packard Top Executive Ousted (Fiorina)
AP, via NBCNews.com ^ | 2/9/2005 | AP, via NBCNews.com

Carly Fiorina’s nearly six-year reign at Hewlett-Packard Co. ended abruptly Wednesday as board members forced her out, disappointed by her inability to transform a plodding technology giant dominated by printer sales into a more nimble innovator.

H-P’s stock, which has gone nowhere for two years and is down two-thirds from its peak in 2000, rose almost 7 percent after earlier soaring almost 11 percent on the news of her ouster.

Board members said they fired the chief executive — perhaps corporate America’s most influential woman — because Fiorina failed to slash costs and boost revenue as quickly as directors had hoped.

“While I regret the board and I have differences about how to execute H-P’s strategy, I respect their decision,” said Fiorina, 50, who is expected to collect a severance package worth $21.1 million.

(snip)

Fiorina, who holds degrees in medieval history and philosophy, business administration and management, is a standout in liberal Silicon Valley for her Republican activism. She has taken heat for her outspoken advocacy of the offshoring of U.S. jobs to low-wage workers abroad.

I've been seeing a lot of chatter about Fiorina over the past few days. For those with short memories, here's why she will never be President or even Vice-President.

Not a Fiorina supporter, but this is nothing more than a broad daylight hit piece. This is not newsworthy other than simply to whack Fiorina.

“. She has taken heat for her outspoken advocacy of the offshoring of U.S. jobs to low-wage workers abroad.”

Under her, Malaysia is now where HP is headquartered.

Good job exporting our jobs to Asia, lady.

Go F yourself.

She needs to be whacked. And again. And again. And the article was from 2005, well before she tried her hand at politics as a McCain crony.

It's a ten year old article. The OP put it up to note that this is what we could expect if Fiorina were to get the nomination.

Chris Wallace made a similar point to Fiorina herself while interviewing her yesterday.

"So maybe it isn’t totally crazy that Fiorina is running for president even if she’s never won an election. But it is totally crazy that Fiorina is running for the White House when, according to federal election reports, her 2010 campaign still owes $486,418 to creditors. Who wants a deadbeat for president?"

"Like the evil George Wickham in “Pride and Prejudice,” Fiorina skipped California owing buckets of cash to her one-time pals. She owes $60,000 to former campaign manager Marty Wilson, who now works for the California Chamber of Commerce, and another $20,000 to his former communications firm. She shorted her lawyer Ben Ginsberg, formerly of Patton Boggs, to the tune of $44,000. She owes $3,750 to a former press secretary, $5,000 to another communications aide and $7,500 to her erstwhile political director. She stiffed political consultant Joe Shumate, who died in 2010, to the tune of $30,000. (Yes, she stiffed a stiff — even though she lauded Shumate as a “trusted adviser and friend” upon his death.)"

I see that I missed the date of origin and the context from the OP.

HP screwed the pooch when they sold their Test Equipment division to Agilent. They could have stayed in the Test Equipment business and branched out to computers. They were the best game in town. They built quality gear, and their tech support was awesome. Agilent builds garbage and has the worst tech support on the planet.

Another ego that knows no boundaries. Forget Fiorina.

Probably running to raise more OPM to pay her pals... and stroke her ego. Just gives conservatives a bad name.

And why not whack fiorina? She ran up her flag to see who would salute it.... fair game.

The article is from ten years ago but it is the truth.

Another ego that knows no boundarites

Our entitled class is way out of control. This failure thinking she is qualified to be US President is a prime example.

She destroyed Hewlett-Packard. For that she will roast in hell some day.

If she thinks she'll find enthusiasm from anyone but the beltway establishment cheerleaders, she's delusional.

...it is totally crazy that Fiorina is running for the White House when, according to federal election reports, her 2010 campaign still owes $486,418 to creditors.

She got a $21 million severance package from HP - she could easily pay this debt. Why stiff her friends?

Today’s job tip from an ex-HP’er who left during the reign of Carly: If managers start passing around a copy of “Who moved my cheese?” and suggest that everyone read it - start looking for another place to work. Just a suggestion for y’all. Don’t ask how I know this... :-(

She’s not stiffing her friends. It is all a game with them. Her friends remain creditors so they can be in line for OPM... they don’t want her money and don’t need it for the most part. They just want to be on the record to have their hands out in case some money shakes lose from the public.

fiorina has plenty of money to pay them and a lot more. She is just following the credo of politicians and big business people everywhere... never spend your own money.

How is it that you post vile, left-wing media garbage when it suits your purposes, then rail against it when they post biased crap? Situational respect for this manufactured garbage speaks worse of those that selectively rely on it than it does of the so-called journalist that scribbles it out.

Before that she shattered Lucent. She is a horrible CEO, promoted because she is female. She leaves a wrath of destruction wherever she goes.
