Late last summer, with midterms consuming the attention of the political class, a group of GOP activists spent two days in Des Moines trying to convince their fellow Republicans that change was coming to their party. With eyes on 2016, they attended the Iowa State Fair, talked with newspaper editorial boards, and even ventured onto conservative talk radio. To cap it off, on the last evening, supporters gathered at 801 Chophouse, the upscale watering hole of the city's political elite, as if to announce their movement had gone mainstream. That it couldn't be dismissed as fringe any longer.
Their issue, in a state where evangelical Christians remain the heart of the GOP base, was support for same-sex marriage.
The reception was smaller than expectedjust about 50 people cameand included a lineup of supporters already deeply involved in the GOP's gay-marriage movement. Yet while it would have to be described as underwhelming, the event nonetheless signaled movement. "Here you have a conservative reception for activists to come in and talk marriage equality in a central hub of political activity," says Jeff Angelo, a former state senator who is now chairman of Iowa Republicans for Freedom, a pro-gay-marriage group. "That's not usual."
Indeed, it's not. Less than 10 years ago, the last Republican who would go on to win the presidency traveled conservative America touting a series of "one man, one woman" state constitutional amendments. But the task that day in Iowa wasn't to show Republicans how much has changed in a decade or to nudge them toward acceptance of those unions. It was to force them to concede that going neutral on gay marriage is critical to winning the White House.

You do not ever give up when fighting for the truth, no matter what the current public opinion is.

Rand Paul: “Republicans need to surrender because TV said so.”
+1
They pull that and they’ve lost me forever.
I suspect that has a lot to do with the fact that the schools have been pushing the homosexual agenda for the last 20 years. Those "kids" are now voting adults. That doesn't make it right.
We knew why it was so important to them to get Romney to the head of the party.
It was to end the social conservatism of the party and break it from Christianity once and for all.
SURP
I don't actually understand what you mean by SURP.
These kids aren't as pro-homo as most people think. They've had to deal with it in their faces for the last 20 years. If you get those kids away from their peers, they'll tell you the truth about how they really feel. If you listen to what they say under their breaths after they see a homo in the hall, you'll hear them say stuff like "Ewwww." Or "How f----- up is that?" Another one is "like, barf!"
Believe it or not, college kids are not homo friendly unless when they're trapped in a class room. These kids have just been trained to be silent to the liberal agenda.
What you see or hear in the news is only what the news wants you to see and hear. There's a huge other side of the story out there!
And polls of young conservatives find barely a small majority still opposed to homosexual marriage. Polls of young people overall show that they are overwhelmingly in favor of homosexual marriage.
Have you watched television lately? It is an endless series of homosexual promoting television shows. I just watched an episode of "Bones" the other day. Of COURSE they had to put forth a homosexual relationship as part of the plot. Shows like "Glee" are a non-stop "gay" normalization propaganda stream, as are "Modern Family", and countless others.
I saw a study a year ago that said something like 84 out of 125 television shows (greater than 50%) feature either "gay" actors, or "gay" characters, all portrayed in a positive light.
We live in an age where all the forces of Propaganda have been turned towards normalizing what is a sick, disgusting and disease ridden practice, and their efforts are working.
We need to destroy Hollywood, and we need to Destroy Liberal Democrat control of the News Streams. Till we address these propaganda and misinformation streams, we are going to be unable to move the nation towards stability.
Actually I do, I just hope you understand that I want to do some winning, and hope we can take back so much that we have lost over the last 8 years. I dont think this issue is one of them, but there are plenty of others I think we can.
I believe people inherently know when something isn't right. They know abortion is barbaric. They know homosexuality is sick. They know welfare is the slavery of others. The problem is they don't know how to stop it. The Republicans in Washington are no longer listening to the people. They, too, have became as power hungry and addicted to their taxpayer paid luxuries as the democrats.
The majority has no one to turn to. They have no one to vote for.
Trying to eliminate the republican Party from American politics altogether? These are Democrat operatives, no?
Republicans mostly do “get it.” They would just rather be Left than in office.
So what else i s new? The GOP doesn’t really stand for anything but many will continue to insist on voting for them.
It’s not marriage. Civil unions are on them.
“Republicans need to soften on social issues” so that the Republican Party can stay comfortably in second place. Unfortunately and what they do not understand is that with being “soft” on cultural issues and on immigration. especially of the illegal variety, the Republican Party will eliminate the whole concept of “second place” because there will be only the one Ruling Party which will be the totalitarian Democrats.
